Adult HLH Database, Stanford University, California (2016)
Established new database (utilizing Redcap) of adult hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) patients at Stanford University Hospital (SUH) from 2012-2017. In collaboration with a pharmacoeconomist and Dr Beth Martin, a hematologist/oncologist who is a specialist in HLH at Stanford, I retrospectively investigated direct and indirect resource utilization. I also investigated screening strategies to diagnose HLH in adults earlier with the goal to reduce patient morbidity and hospital costs. We collaborated with the Stanford transfusion department (Dr Jean Oak) and the infectious disease department (Dr Joanna Nelson), leading to two abstracts that were published as a supplemental in the Journal of American Society of Hematology (ASH), an abstract accepted by IDWeek and an abstract submitted to the Histiocyte Society's annual meeting in 2018. I am currently still working to expand the database and writing the first paper focusing on resource utilization in HLH to bring more attention to this syndrome.
