Alba Huidobro is a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford Impact Labs (SIL) and the Department of Political Science at Stanford University. Huidobro received her PhD from Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) in July 2022. As a graduate student, Huidobro was a visiting researcher at the European University Institute, the University of Oxford, and UC Berkeley. Huidobro specializes in comparative politics, elites' political behavior and gender whose research explores gender inequalities in the political sphere by analyzing how political leaders' attitudes and personal characteristics define women's selection into politics and governments. Combining observational and experimental data, Huidobro demonstrates that governments’ negotiation dynamics could help explain a significant share of the gender gap in top political positions.
