Bio

After growing up in the suburbs of St. Paul, Minnesota, I went on to double major in Environmental Science and Radio/Television/Film at Northwestern University. Pursuing my dual interests in science and media, I got my Master of Fine Arts in Science & Natural History Filmmaking from Montana State University. In 2006 I started a job in communications and public affairs at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. It was the early days of YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, so though my primary role was video production, it evolved more broadly into social media and media relations. After switching coasts, I worked for about a year in public relations for various companies in the technology industry at Eastwick Communications before joining the Office of Communications at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in 2011. Initially I was hired as the media relations and social media lead, but was promoted to lead the digital communications team in 2014.

Current Role at Stanford

As the digital communications manager I lead a small team responsible for SLAC's photography, videography, A/V services and communications-related web projects. I manage the production of multimedia content and work with SLAC's editorial team and others to develop compelling visuals that capture stories of SLAC's work in cutting-edge science and technology research. I also work to ensure SLAC has the right tools and systems in place to create and deliver content via the web.
