Current Role at StanfordIn my role as Chief Operating Officer and Associate Dean, I provide oversight and strategic leadership of the operations of the School of Medicine. This includes developing and leading the execution of major strategic initiatives and ensuring foundational operations are rigorous and effectively support the tripartite missions of Education, Research and Patient Care. I am a member of the Dean's leadership team and a representative of the School of Medicine in a variety of forums throughout Stanford and externally
My role encompasses responsibilities as Associate Dean, Industry Relations and Digital Health, In this capacity, I lead Stanford Medicine’s Office of Industry Relations and Digital Health (IRDH) whose mission is to foster relationships that will promote discovery, accelerate the use of technologies that advance human health, and translate today’s breakthroughs into tomorrow’s standard of care. IRDH serves as the front door for organizations interested in exploring a strategic relationship with Stanford Medicine. The work is part of Stanford Medicine's Strategy Team, led by Priya Singh.
I also co-lead the Stanford Medicine Catalyst program with Dr. Euan Ashley. We focus on discovering, supporting and propelling healthcare innovation from within the Stanford community. When these innovations are ready, we assist in the commercialization and scaling to reach maximum impact and improve human health. https://smcatalyst.stanford.edu

Kevin Helenius, MPA, PA-C, ATC

BioKevin Helenius is a board-certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He graduated with his Master Physician Assistant (MPA) degree from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA. Kevin is also a board-certified athletic trainer (ATC) and began his career in sports medicine as the athletic trainer at a local high school in San Jose, CA. Kevin recently returned to the Sports Medicine clinic at Stanford Health Care, where he previously worked prior to his PA education. He currently assists Dr. Tim McAdams in surgery and provides patient care in the outpatient clinic setting. Kevin is also a clinical instructor and PAC Mentor with the Stanford School of Medicine Master of Science in Physician Assistant (PA) Studies program.

Sanna Elizabeth Herwald

Resident in RadiologyBioSanna Herwald received her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Tufts University. Her Ph.D. research in the field of Microbiology focused on the opportunistic fungal pathogen Candida albicans. During her time in the M.D.-Ph.D. program she discovered her interest in Radiology, and the possibilities for visualizing the interaction between microorganisms and the human body.

Jon Hochstein
Resident in Cardiothoracic Surgery
Affiliate, Dean's Office Operations - Dean OtherBioI'm a Cardiothoracic Surgery resident at Stanford Health Care. I also completed an intern year in Pediatrics resident at Boston Children’s Hospital before transitioning to cardiothoracic surgery. I received my MD from Harvard Medical School in the Health Sciences and Technology program joint with MIT. I trained as a biomedical engineering at the Johns Hopkins University with a focus in instrumentation.
I've interests in medical devices spanning from assistive robotics, surgical devices, to point of care devices. I have extensive experience working in the electronics and coding aspect of device development.
My long term goal is to become a congenital cardiovascular surgeon and improve the field of transplantation (partial and whole), congenital cardiac surgery techniques, and congenital mechanical circulatory support. This vocation comes from my personal experience receiving a heart transplant in 1999.
