Kalpana Isabel Nathan
Adjunct Clinical Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioKalpana Nathan, MD is an adjunct clinical professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Stanford University School of Medicine. After completion of residency and research fellowship at Stanford, she served 4 years at the San Francisco General Hospital/UCSF, gaining experience in the areas of substance use, HIV and public health. She worked at Palo Alto VA for more than a couple of decades. She served as chief medical director at Mental Health and Addiction services, El Camino Health for two and a half years, and is a certified physician executive. She has worked and taught in various settings, both inpatient and outpatient, as well as private and public sectors. She is board certified in General, Addiction and Forensic Psychiatry, as well as Lifestyle Medicine. Her interests include wellness and self-care for physicians, women's health, health creation and resiliency building for the community. She is a certified meditation teacher, has completed sprint and Olympic triathlons, and enjoys traveling around the world. She received the outstanding community clerkship preceptor award in 2010 and the Arthur L. Bloomfield Award in Recognition of Excellence in the Teaching of Clinical Medicine in 2015 at the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsI am interested in how brain dynamics and cognitive functions in health and disease emerge from interactions within biological neural networks. To this purpose, I combine theoretical and computational models of brain dynamics and function inspired by statistical physics and information theory with analysis of neural recordings at different scales using machine learning methods.

Seigo Ninomiya

BioAt Stanford University School of Medicine, Seigo worked in NIH funded Clinical trials for a variety of neuropsychiatric disorder, and hands-on experience dealing data from neuroimaging methods such as fMRI, EEG, and 3D Neuro-navigation system. At UCSF School of Medicine, he has completed the internship program with the Center for Intelligent Imaging. As a part of Biomagnetic Imaging Lab and Speech Neuroscience Lab at UCSF School of Medicine, He has done data processing, Data QC, and analysis of MEG, fMRI data and several neuropsych scales such as GAD7, YBOCS, and Tinnitus Functional Index. He have hands-on experience on advanced neuroimaging technologies including fMRI and EEG in laboratory settings at University of California Davis., and obtained a CITI training certificate in both biological/behavioral training, and MRI training certificate from UC Davis Imaging Research center.

Tsuyoshi Nishiguchi

BioTsuyoshi Nishiguchi is a postdoctoral scholar at Gen Shinozaki Laboratory, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of Stanford University. His work mainly focuses on the pathology and treatment of delirium with animal experiments using the bispectral EEG (BSEEG) method. As background, in Japan, he worked as a psychiatrist for eight years at the Department of Psychiatry of Tottori University Hospital and a city hospital. He has obtained a Ph.D. in medical sciences in depression study with animal experiments. In the USA, he was a visiting scholar at this Laboratory for 2 years. After that, he has been working in this laboratory up to the present.
