Lynn C. Waelde, Ph.D.
Adjunct Clinical Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioLynn C. Waelde, Ph.D. is an Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine and Professor Emeritus in the Psychology Department at Palo Alto University. Dr. Waelde’s many collaborative publications address the impacts of traumatic events and ways to use mindfulness and meditation to promote resilience and recovery from stress and trauma. She founded and directed the Inner Resources Center which offered intervention groups and trainings to thousands of participants, clients, and therapists over the past 15 years. Dr. Waelde is the author of Mindfulness and Meditation in Trauma Treatment: The Inner Resources for Stress Program, published in 2022. She has taken a special interest in family caregivers and the Inner Resources for Stress program has been named a Best Practice by the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging. She recently coauthored Family Caregiver Distress, which is forthcoming in 2023. She is on the editorial board of Journal of Traumatic Stress and an Associate Editor of Mindfulness.

Gordon Wang
Clinical Associate Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioGordon Wang received his Bachelors of Arts and Science from the University of California, Davis in 2000 majoring in Comparative literature and Genetics. He received his PhD under Dr. Mu-ming Poo at the University of California, Berkeley in 2005 studying the role of ion channels in mediating neuronal growthcone guidance decisions. As a postdoctoral scholar in the lab of Dr. Stephen Smith at Stanford University, Gordon developed a computational architecture for the detailed study of molecular diversity in synapses and using this system, he studied the diverse role of synaptic diversity in neurodevelopmental diseases, such as fragile x syndrome. In a co-postdoc in Dr. Philippe Mourrain's lab, he studied the dynamic plasticity of synapses in sleep and circadian cycles in larval zebrafish using multi-photon microscopy. The Wang lab focuses on further developing imaging tools to the deep analysis of proteins, mRNA and lipids at the synapses, and understanding how synaptic heterogeneity affect the function of neural circuits throughout development and aging and in diseases such as autism and fragile x syndrome.

Kathleen Watson
Instructor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioKathleen Watson, Ph.D., currently serves as an instructor at Stanford University School of Medicine, specializing in Epidemiology and Clinical Research. She co-founded Microclinic International in 2007, where she served as Chief Operating Officer until 2012, focusing on socially-based health interventions for underserved communities.
Dr. Watson's research encompasses various aspects of mental health and metabolism. She investigates the connection between insulin resistance and depression, using computational psychiatry to uncover insights into the interplay of metabolic factors in mental well-being. Additionally, her exploration of cognitive aging examines how metabolic alterations might impact cognitive decline and related disorders. Furthermore, her research in proteomics aims to identify potential biomarkers for severe major depressive disorder. Dr. Watson has recently become a part of the Stanford Autism Center for Excellence Data Core, where she works under the guidance of Dr. Booil Jo.
