Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr Hammer has had a longstanding interest in factors influencing the development of childhood obesity. In particular, his studies have focused on early determinants of eating behavior, physical activity, and parenting behavior in relation to early feeding decisions and parental influences on diet and eating. With the current epidemic of child obesity and it's comorbidities, he is currently involved in the development of protocols for adolescent bariatric surgery.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsHis research and clinical work focuses on the development of interventional techniques for fetal and neonatal treatment of congenital heart disease, pulmonary, vascular physiology, and the neurologic impact of open-heart surgery. He developed and pioneered the unifocalization procedure, in which a single procedure is used to repair a complex and life-threatening congenital heart defect rather than several staged open-heart surgeries as performed by other surgeons.

A California Population-Based Twin Study of Autism
This will address several fundamental questions: (1) What is the heritability of autism (2) What is the contribution of genetic factors to variation in symptom dimensions? (3) Is there a continuum between the quantitative neurocognitive traits and clinical disorder? (4) What proportion of the variance in the neurocognitive traits is accounted for by genetic and non-genetic factors?

Gene, Brain and Behavior in Turner Syndrome(Reiss)
The primary objective of this project is to use advanced, multi-modal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques, analyses of X chromosome parent-of-origin and cognitive-behavioral assessment to elucidate the effects of monosomy and X-linked imprinting on neurodevelopment and neural function in a large cohort of young girls with Turner syndrome, pre-estrogen replacement.
Project F: Genomic Analysis in narcolepsy cataplexy
The goal of the project is to locate genes outside the HLA region that influence susceptibility to narcolepsy. In order to localize these genes we will carry out a linkage and association study in the most extensive world-wide collection of DNAs from well-characterized patients with narcolepsy and their families.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsWe are interested in the neuronal mechanisms that underlie synchronous oscillatory activity in the thalamus, cortex and the massively interconnected thalamocortical system. Such oscillations are related to cognitive processes, normal sleep activities and certain forms of epilepsy. Our approach is an analysis of the discrete components (cells, synapses, microcircuits) that make up thalamic and cortical circuits, and reconstitution of components into in silico computational networks.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Hammer's primary research interests are pediatric pharmacology and perioperative care of children undergoing cardiac surgery. He has numerous funded research projects in these areas, including an NIH grant for $4.3 million to study the pharmacology of sodium nitroprusside, a drug commonly used for blood pressure control in the operating room and ICU. Dr. Hammer has two other NIH grants and other ongoing research projects in the area of pediatric pharmacology.

BioDr. Hill received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Ohio University. She completed her predoctoral internship at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System and postdoctoral fellowship in the Psychiatry Department at the Stanford University School of Medicine where she currently serves as a Clinical Associate Professor. Dr. Hill has published articles and made presentations related to psychology training, pain management, serious mental illness including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and sexual dysfunction.
Dr. Hill's time is divided across clinical, research, administrative, and teaching domains. Her current adult-focused clinical interests are varied including insomnia/depression, social anxiety, relationship difficulties, and post-traumatic stress disorder. The remainder of her time is committed to psychology training as the Co-Director of Clinical Training for the PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium. On a national level, she currently serves as a Board Member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers.

BioDr. Heather Henri practices Internal Medicine at Stanford Concierge Medicine.
Dr. Henri attended Stanford University, where she received her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences. At Stanford she was the recipient of the President's Award for Academic Excellence in the Freshman Year, awarded to the top 3% of students. She has been the recipient of an American Heart Association Internship at the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She also was awarded two Howard Hughe's Institute summer Research Fellowships at the NIH, one at the National Cancer Institute and the second at the National Eye Institute.
In 2000, Dr. Henri graduated from Harvard Medical School. She then completed a Surgical Internship at Stanford Medical Center, followed by an Internal Medicine Residency at Stanford in 2004. Between 2004 to 2013 she was a Faculty Physician at Stanford Internal Medicine.
Dr. Henri was named as a "Top Reviewer" based on the quality of reviews by the Annals of Internal Medicine in 2006. With Dr. Peter Rudd, she co-authored the chapter "Hypertension: Context and Managment" in the Textbook of Cardiovascular Medicine published in 2007. Between 2006-2007 Dr. Henri was a member of the California Academic Collaborative on Chronic Care. She served as the Clinic Chief at Blake Wilbur of Stanford Medical Group from 2006-2009, as well as on the General Internal Medicine Executive Committee at Stanford between 2006-2009.
In August 2013, Dr. Henri joined Stanford Concierge Medicine. She then served as Director of the American College of Physician's Internal Medicine Maintenance of Certification Course held in San Francisco. Dr. Henri has been a Reviewer for the American College of Physicians on multiple projects. She recently served on the Internal Medicine Essentials Text and Online Questions Editorial Review Board for the American College of Physicians. In 2016 and 2017 Dr. Henri reviewed and authored educational material for the American College of Physician's Medical Knowledge and Self Assessment Program (MKSAP 17) Updates.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsOur research focuses on the inner ear, from its earliest manifestation as one of the cranial placodes until it has developed into a mature and functioning organ. We are interested how the sensory epithelia of the inner ear that harbor the sensory hair cells develop, how the cells mature, and how these epithelia respond to toxic insults. The overarching goal of this research is to find was to regenerate lost sensory hair cells in mammals.

BioPaula J. Adams Hillard, M.D., is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stanford University School of Medicine where she serves as Associate Chair for Medical Student Education. She earned a B.S. in Zoology from the University of North Carolina and obtained her M.D. from Stanford University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in OB/Gyn at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She was on the faculty at the University of Virginia, and served as Professor in the Departments of OB/Gyn and Pediatrics at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital (CCHMC) /University of Cincinnati Medical Center for 23 years. At CCHMC she was the founder of a postgraduate fellowship in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. She currently directs the program in Adolescent and Pediatric Gynecology at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford.
She has been active on a number of national medical committees, including chair of the American College Obstetricians and Gynecologists' (ACOG) Committees on Patient Education, Adolescent Health, and Guidelines for Women’s Health; she is a past member of the Gynecologic Practice Committee and the Gynecology Document Review Committee, and is currently a member of the Ethics Committee. She has been an examiner for the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists since 1991. She is a Board Member of the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and was elected a fellow of the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society. She is a past president of the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, and is an active contributor to the literature in adolescent gynecology and contraception with over 160 journal articles and abstracts published. She serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. She is the sole editor of two textbooks: the 5-Minute Consult in Obstetrics and Gynecology (2008) and Practical Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (2013). She is the author of over 140 peer -reviewed articles and abstracts, and over 100 book chapters on women’s health. She has been a consultant and a member of tasks forces and committees for the CDC, the U.S. FDA, the NICHD, the AMA, American Cancer Society, and ACOG. In addition to her work as a member of editorial boards and as an ad hoc reviewer for professional publications, Dr. Hillard has extensive experience with the consumer press. She was a contributing editor to Parents magazine from 1982-1990, writing a monthly column on pregnancy and birth--and currently acts as an editorial consultant to women’s publications such as Good Housekeeping, Family Circle, Woman’s Day, Cosmopolitan, Redbook, Glamour, YM, and Seventeen, as well as ABC News. She is a consultant to and a member of the medical advisory board of Clue, a menstrual cycle tracking app. She has been recognized for her teaching, and has been selected as one of 15 senior faculty master teachers/mentors for medical students at the Stanford University School of Medicine in a formal mentoring program called Educators for CARE: Compassion, Advocacy, Responsibility, and Empathy.

BioLynn Hildemann's current research areas include the sources and dispersion of indoor aerosols, the physicochemical properties of organic aerosols, and assessment of human exposure to PM.
Prof. Hildemann received BS, MS, and PhD degrees in environmental engineering science from the California Institute of Technology. She is an author on >80 peer-reviewed publications, including three with over 700 citations each, and another 16 with over 100 citations each. She has been honored with Young Investigator Awards from NSF and ONR, the Kenneth T. Whitby Award from the AAAR (1998), and Stanford's Gores Award for Teaching Excellence (2013); she also was a co-recipient of Atmospheric Environment’s Haagen-Smit Outstanding Paper Award (2001).
She has served on advisory committees for the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and for the California Air Resources Board. She has been an Associate Editor for Environmental Science & Technology, and Aerosol Science and Technology. She currently is on the advisory board for the journal Environmental Science & Technology.
At Stanford, Prof. Hildemann is currently chair of the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. She has chaired the School of Engineering Library Committee and the University Committee on Judicial Affairs, and serves as an elected member of the University Faculty Senate.

He also directs Stanford Cardiovascular Institute Biomarker and Phenotypic Core Laboratory whose mission is to identify the best biomarkers to detect, monitor and manage cardiovascular disease. Dr. Haddad has over 12 years of practice in the field of cardiology and has a special interest in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction also known as diastolic heart failure, pulmonary hypertension as well as systemic hypertension.

She then completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Stanford and a Palliative Care fellowship at the Palo Alto VA/Stanford program before joining the faculty at Stanford. She is the founding medical director of Palliative Care Services for Stanford Health Care and Associate Program Director for Stanford's Internal Medicine Residency Program. Her research and educational interests include communication training in healthcare and bioethics in end-of-life care.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy primary area of scholarly and clinical interest is the pathogenesis of problem behaviors shown by individuals diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), particularly those with neurogenetic forms of IDD, such as fragile X syndrome, Cornelia de Lange syndrome and Prader-Willi syndrome. My work aims to both advance understanding of these disorders and to identify effective new treatment approaches for pediatric and adult patient populations by state-of-the-art methodologies, such as brain imaging, eye tracking and functional analysis to determine how environmental and biological factors affect the development of aberrant behaviors in these syndromes. The end goal of my research is to create patient-specific methods for treating the symptoms of these disorders.

The fundamental insights of cell-matrix interactions are applied towards stem cell-based therapies with respect to improving cell survival and regenerative capacity, as well as engineered vascularized tissues for therapeutic implantation.

We also study the neural circuits that merge perceptions with internal states, in particular, visual fear.
The specific conditions we aim to understand and develop therapeutic strategies for include: retinal and optic nerve damage in glaucoma, and disorders of sensory-limbic integration, such as chronic anxiety, phobias and PTSD.
