Nam Quoc Bui
Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Oncology
BioDr. Bui is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Stanford Cancer Institute and a specialist in Sarcoma. Dr. Bui earned an undergraduate degree in Computer Science at Stanford University and went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He completed Internal Medicine residency at Stanford Hospital and Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the University of California San Diego, where he performed extensive research in bioinformatics to analyze tumor sequencing data.
His research background and interests are in the field of bioinformatics as applied to large data sets and the study of novel compounds in rare malignancies. He is involved in numerous sarcoma clinical trials, leading efforts to take new therapeutics from the lab to clinical practice. He also is involved in education at the Stanford University School of Medicine, serving as a lecturer and mentor to students and trainees. Dr. Bui is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Current Problems in Cancer: Case Reports”, an international, peer-reviewed journal that publishes groundbreaking cases that give insight into redefining concepts in cancer. -

BioRene Caissie is an entrepreneur, researcher, and former surgeon who holds the position of CEO and Co-Founder at Medeloop.ai, a company dedicated to revolutionizing clinical research and trials through innovative AI technology. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine, where he teaches entrepreneurship in Digital Health. In addition, he lectures within the Stanford Master of Science in Clinical Informatics Management (MCIM) program, mentoring students through their practicum experiences. Furthermore, he provides instruction at the Translational Medicine Program (MTM) at UCSF, focusing on the translational challenges in medicine. He is also a member of the XPRIZE Brain Trust Team, where he lends his expertise to foster healthcare innovations. Alison Callahan
Instructor, Medicine - Biomedical Informatics Research
BioAlison Callahan is an Instructor in the Center for Biomedical Informatics and Clinical Data Scientist in the Stanford Health Care Data Science team led by Nigam Shah. Her current research uses informatics to expand and improve the data available about pregnancy and birth, and to develop and maintain and EHR-derived obstetric database. She is also the co-leader of the OHDSI Perinatal & Reproductive Health (PRHeG) working group. Her work in the SHC Data Science team focuses on developing and implementing methods to assess and identify high value applications of machine learning in healthcare settings.
Alison completed her PhD in the Department of Biology at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. Her doctoral research focused on developing HyQue, a framework for representing and evaluating scientific hypotheses, and applying this framework to discover genes related to aging. She was also a developer for Bio2RDF, an open-source project to build and provide the largest network of Linked Data for the life sciences. Her postdoctoral work at Stanford applied methodologies developed during her PhD to study spinal cord injury in model organisms and humans in a collaboration with scientists at the University of Miami. -

Julia J. Chang, MD

Clinical Assistant Professor (By courtesy), NeurosurgeryBioDr. Chang is a board-certified endocrinologist and internal medicine doctor. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Stanford Medicine’s Division of Endocrinology, Gerontology, and Metabolism. She specializes in transgender health, pituitary disorders, diabetes, and general endocrine disorders.
She provides patient care at the Stanford Health Care Endocrinology Clinic and the Stanford Health Care LGBTQ+ Health Program. For each patient, she develops a comprehensive, compassionate care plan personalized to individual needs. Her goal is always the best possible health and quality of life for every patient in her care.
Dr. Chang leads quality improvement and education initiatives within the endocrinology and pituitary team. She teaches medical students, residents, and fellows and serves as the associate program director for the Stanford endocrinology fellowship.
Dr. Chang has conducted extensive research and has published peer-reviewed articles on obesity, weight loss, and transgender health in the journals Endocrine Practice, Family Medicine, and Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine. She has presented the findings of her research at national meetings of the Endocrine Society and United States Professional Association of Transgender Health.
She is a member of the Endocrine Society, American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, Pituitary Society, and the World Professional Association of Transgender Health.
As a volunteer, Dr. Chang has guided medical students providing health care to uninsured residents of the Bay Area.
When not providing clinical care, teaching, or conducting research, Dr. Chang enjoys time with her family, violin, golf, figure skating, and travel.

Dr. Chang earned his MD at Duke University School of Medicine where he was part of the Primary Care Leadership Track. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency training at UCLA in the Primary Care Program. Dr. Chang has interests in medical education, improving access to primary care, community health, and Asian Pacific Islander health disparities. Instructor, Medicine - Cardiovascular MedicineBioPrior to a career in medicine, Dr. Chang was an English major and subsequent novelist at night. During the days, he taught literature part-time at Rutgers University, and for extra money, worked in a laboratory in NYC washing test tubes. Inspired by his laboratory mentor, he began volunteering at the hospital next door, and developed a love for interacting with patients. Through this experience, he saw how caring for others could form deep bonds between people - even strangers - and connect us in a way that brings grandeur to ordinary life.
In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Chang is a physician-scientist devoted to advancing the field of cardiovascular medicine. His research has been focused on identifying a new genetic organism that better models human heart disease than the mouse. For this purpose, he has been studying the mouse lemur, the smallest non-human primate, performing cardiovascular phenotyping (vital signs, ECG, echocardiogram) on lemurs both in-bred (in France) and in the wild (in Madagascar) to try to identify mutant cardiac traits that may be heritable - and in the process, characterize the first high-throughput primate model of human cardiac disease. -

Paulami Chatterjee

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy research involves studying the pathogenic mechanisms underlying the host-pathogen interaction in pulmonary diseases. I am particularly interested in exploring transcriptomic and proteomic changes in Cystic Fibrosis and Asthma patients who develop severe allergic inflammation due to fungal hypersensitivity. Complete understanding of these interaction will help us identify significant fungal virulence factors and help us define clinically relevant targets for therapeutic use.

Amina Chaudhry, MD

BioDr. Amina Chaudhry is a medical oncologist in the Division of Oncology at Stanford University School of Medicine. As part of Stanford University’s Breast Cancer Program, she specializes in treating patients diagnosed with breast cancer.
Dr. Chaudhry completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She gained advanced training in hematology and oncology through a fellowship at University of Illinois Chicago. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Chaudhry’s research focuses on improving outcomes in disadvantaged populations with breast cancer. In 2022, she received the Repurposing Research to Address Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion grant to support underrepresented patients with early-stage breast cancer.
Dr. Chaudhry has published research in journals including Annals of Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Blood Advances. She has presented her work at the annual meetings of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS), and American Society of Hematology (ASH).
Dr. Chaudhry has a strong interest in tackling healthcare inequities and improving access to clinical trials. -
Christopher T Chen, MD

BioDr. Chen is a board-certified, fellowship-trained specialist in oncology and hematology. He is also an Assistant Professor in the Division of Oncology in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Chen delivers comprehensive, compassionate care for patients in need of early drug development clinical trials and patients with gastrointestinal cancers. As a researcher, he leads the early drug development group and studies how tumor heterogeneity limits the clinical benefit of anticancer therapies in order to accelerate development of novel therapeutic strategies. Dr. Chen’s work has appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Science Advances, Journal of Oncology Practice, and Health Services Research.
Dr. Chen attended Harvard College, where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in molecular biology. He went to medical school at Washington University in St. Louis on a full-tuition merit scholarship, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honors, and did his residency training in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and hematology/oncology fellowship in the combined Harvard Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Massachusetts General Hospital program. As a fellow, he received the NIH T-32 Ruth L. Kirchstein-National Service Research Award in Cancer Biology for his work exploring the molecular structure of metastatic solid tumors.
Dr. Chen is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, European Society for Medical Oncology, and American Association for Cancer Research. -
Eunice S. Chen, MD

BioJulie Chen, MD, is a clinical assistant professor in endocrinology at Stanford University. Dr. Chen graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She then completed her internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Diego and endocrinology fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center. She is double board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology.
Dr. Chen practices general endocrinology but her clinical interest include thyroid disease/thyroid cancer, pituitary disease, and disorders of the bone. She also has a special interest in medical education and has developed online teaching resources for the endocrine fellowship program. -

Ming Li (Estella) Chen

BioI am an MD from Chung Shan Medical University, Taiwan. Before coming to Stanford, I obtained my MS degree in epidemiology at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Boston, MA, where I completed graduate training in clinical, pharmacologic, and genetic epidemiology, and pursued advanced skills in biostatistics and causal inference.
My past research focused on real-world epidemiology studies using patient registries and national health insurance databases to elucidate the predictors or risk factors of immunologic diseases. For my graduate study, I conducted pharmacoepidemiology studies using electronic health record (EHR) data to elucidate the predictors of anti-drug antibodies development and its correlation to autoimmunity, to identify the generation of immunogenicity that may impact the effectiveness of monoclonal antibody therapies in individuals with autoimmune diseases. I gained experience in genetic data manipulation to investigate polymorphisms in response to monoclonal antibody therapies in asthma patients.
At Stanford, I am involved in research on the identification of molecular determinants of cardiometabolic diseases. -
Tianqi Chen

Alice Cheng

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Cheng designs and uses complex defined microbial communities to study and treat gastrointestinal disease. The ultimate goal of her research is to develop synthetic gut microbiomes that will supplant and surpass fecal transplant therapy for conditions such as recurrent Clostridium difficile colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

Paul Cheng MD PhD
Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiovascular Medicine)
BioDr. Cheng is a Cardiologist at Stanford University School of Medicine in the Department of Medicine and a member of the Cardiovascular Research Institute. Dr. Cheng received his BEng in Chemical Engineering and BSc in biology at MIT. He subsequently completed his MD/PhD at UCSF working in the Srivastava lab studying how extracellular morphogenic signals affect cardiac development and fate determination of cardiac progenitors. Dr. Cheng completed internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Stanford. His current clinical focus is in amyloidosis and cardio-oncology. During his post doctoral research in the Quertermous lab, he pioneered the application of single cell transcriptomic and epigenetic techniques to study human vascular diseases including atherosclerosis and aneurysm, and applied these techniques to investigate molecular mechanisms behind genetic risk factors for several human vascular diseases including atherosclerosis, and aortopathies such as Marfan's and Loey-Dietz syndrome.
The Cheng lab takes a patient-to-bench-to-bedside approach to science. The lab focuses on elucidating new pathogenic mechanisms of human vascular diseases through combing human genetics and primary vascular disease tissues, with high-resolution transcriptomic and epigenetic profiling to generate novel hypothesis that are then tested in a variety of in vitro and in vivo models. The lab is focused on two broad questions: (1) understanding the biological underpinning of the differences in diseases propensities of different arterial segments in an individual (i.e. why do you have atherosclerosis and aneurysms in certain segments but not others), and (2) understanding the role of perivascular fibroblast in human vascular diseases. -
Xingxing Shelley Cheng

She has a special interest in helping patients of all ages with weight management, obesity prevention, and chronic disease care.
Dr. Chern has volunteered her time as a physician at Arbor and Pacific Free Clinics, the two Stanford-associated free clinics that provide basic healthcare for underserved patients. In her leisure time, she enjoys running in all forms - most of all - chasing after her fleet-footed twin toddlers! -

Ramsey Cheung

His past research include investigating the mechanism of viral neutralization of hepatitis B virus at the molecular level and immune response to hepatitis C virus. Dr. Cheung is studing various aspects of hepatitis C, both clinical and translational research.
