Tuhin Kumar Guha
Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Genetics
BioI am a newly appointed postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Genetics, Stanford University. I will be working with Dr. Michele Calos. My research will involve developing alternative gene therapy approach to treat various muscle disorders using mouse models. My previous appointment as a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Biochemistry, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University, Ontario, Canada has been highly beneficial, where I was involved in developing novel CRISPR-Cas system for increasing the efficiency of gene editing in mammalian cells. I have more than 8 years of extensive research experience in molecular biology techniques. I am a multi-disciplinary person with Ph.D. in Microbiology, M.Sc. in Microbiology, M.Sc. in Genetics, B.Sc. in Zoology, therefore I have a solid understanding and working knowledge in a wider range of biological sciences, be it from animal behavior, ecology, gene regulation, genetic diseases to understanding and designing “molecular switches” in DNA-cutting proteins, such as meganucleases, CRISPR-Cas for genome engineering. I have strong communication skills, presented my research in various conferences and published heavily in the field of DNA-cutting enzymes and their use as genome editing tools.
I have a proven ability to manage challenging research objectives, collaborated with cross-functional teams, and delivered results in high-demanding environment. I always welcome new ideas, and interact with people to learn any new skills and experiences they might have to offer. I have also supervised several undergraduate project students, summer students and junior graduate students. My mentorship to the lab colleagues have been very productive. While I am not working, I enjoy photography.
