Dong-han Yao, MD

Fellow in Peds/Clinical InformaticsBioDong-han Yao, M.D., is a physician informaticist and emergency physician at Stanford University. Dr. Yao holds a B.A. in Molecular & Cell Biology and Immunology from University of California, Berkeley, and an M.D. from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He completed his Emergency Medicine Residency training at University of California, Los Angeles, and his fellowship training in Clinical Informatics at Stanford University.
Dr. Yao is an invited speaker at grand rounds, national conferences, and workshops on the topic of prompt engineering and generative AI for both healthcare and non-clinical applications around the country. He collaborates with the Stanford Health Care Data Science Team (DSatSHC) on both enterprise-level AI education and research, as well as co-development and evaluation of novel generative AI platforms and technologies for healthcare.
His scholarly and operational work include expanding patient access to acute care via virtual care, responsible integration of AI into medical education and the clinical continuum, and leveraging technology to streamline physician workflow and improve patient outcomes in the emergency department. His past informatics work includes award-winning usage of mobile devices to improve the efficiency and accessibility of medical documentation during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, creation of novel patient discharge mechanisms for academic hospital centers, and development and implementation of new interdisciplinary clinical pathways for the emergency department. Dr. Yao's clinical interests include critical care, cardiac emergencies, telemedicine, and novel care delivery models in emergency medicine. -

BioAs a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Dermatology, I am fortunate to have world-class mentors and colleagues who are committed to a collaborative approach to research. Having a family history of melanoma, I am passionate about investigating skin cancers and other skin conditions. In 2022, I was named Dermatology PA of the Year by the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, a national organization with over 4,700 members.
I have co-authored 30 academic publications on a variety of topics including dermatologic surgery, rare skin conditions, allergen content of skin care products, and the state of diversity within the dermatology profession. My writing has appeared in the Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Cutis, and elsewhere. My work has also been cited in UpToDate- the world’s most widely used evidence-based encyclopedia for medical professionals.
Most importantly, I believe in exercising empathy and compassion, taking the time to listen to patients as if they were family. To me, there is no greater responsibility or privilege than to be trusted with another person’s health. -

Aydin Zahedivash

Fellow in Peds/Clinical InformaticsBioAydin is a physician, educator, and engineer whose interests lie at the intersection of technology, health equity, and children’s health. Aydin completed his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and went on to complete an MD and MBA at the University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School and McCombs School of Business. He has over 10 years of experience in the medical technology space, having contributed as a researcher, mentor, inventor, and consultant in both the academic and private industry settings. He is a project coach and part of the teaching team within the Biodesign Digital Health Group and is leading a study exploring the role of wearable devices for arrhythmia event monitors in children. He is currently a clinical informatics fellow and is passionate about designing digital solutions to integrate and distribute access to care.

Health Disparities Research Instructor, Office of Diversity in Medical EducationBioDr. Astrid N. Zamora is a public health researcher and epidemiologist committed to advancing health equity in Latino/a/x communities across the United States and Mexico. Her research explores how environmental exposures, dietary behavior/patterns, physical activity, and sleep, independently and jointly, impact cardiometabolic and related health outcomes. Her goal is to blend epidemiologic methods with community-based participatory research so that her work is guided by the lived experiences and priorities of the communities she serves. Ultimately, she hopes to translate those findings into practical, equitable public health strategies aimed at reducing disparities and empowering marginalized populations.
