Steffen Buessecker
Postdoctoral Scholar, Earth System Science
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsI approach science questions from the molecular to the ecosystem level, such as (1) how abiotic pathways integrate into biological networks under extreme conditions, (2) what trace metals extremophiles require to maintain metabolic activity, (3) what novel methods can be applied to isolate extremophiles, and (4) how distinct trace gases cycle through extreme natural systems.

Anchal Garg
Postdoctoral Scholar, Earth System Science
BioShe is an environmental researcher working on the negative implications of air pollution on human health and climate change. She has worked on monitoring, mapping, emission inventory, and identifying health hazards of Volatile Organic Compounds, Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons, and Particulate Matter present in the air. Anchal conducted extensive fieldwork, surveys, and cross-sectional studies to identify air quality and health-related data. Her current project is modeling and measuring the health consequences of indoor air pollutants formed during the combustion of stove gas in California.

Carlos Gould
Postdoctoral Scholar, Earth System Science
BioCarlos F. Gould is a 2021-2023 Stanford Earth Postdoctoral Fellow. Carlos is working to understand the drivers of unequal health risks and under what circumstances environmental health interventions and policies can improve health and well-being. His research has combined epidemiology, exposure science, and survey data collection to enhance our understanding of how to reduce household air pollution by promoting the use of clean cooking technologies. Carlos holds a PhD in Environmental Health Sciences from Columbia University and a BA in Environmental Studies from Yale University.

Brian Green
Postdoctoral Scholar, Earth System Science
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy current research is on the dynamics and circulation of the stratosphere, focusing on quantifying the sources and effects of gravity waves. More broadly, I'm interested in and curious about a large range of topics relating to tropical climate, clouds, and the general circulation of the atmosphere and ocean.
