Amber Catherine Kerr

BioAmber Kerr is a plant ecologist focusing on agriculture and climate change. She earned her BS and MS at Stanford in Earth Systems (Biosphere Track) in 2002 and her Ph.D. at UC Berkeley in Energy and Resources in 2012, where she studied agroforestry systems in Malawi. Her postdoctoral work at UC Davis included coordinating the USDA Climate Hub for California and studying adoption of whole-orchard recycling in the almond industry. Since then, she has worked as an adjunct lecturer at UC Berkeley, Las Positas College, Santa Clara University, and San José State University. She also serves as a scientific consultant for Carbon Direct.
As a current Lecturer in Stanford's Doerr School of Sustainability, Amber is helping teach SUST 210 (Pursuing Sustainability) in Fall 2024 and is developing detailed case studies in sustainable agriculture to be used as teaching tools across different classes in SDSS. Amber lives in Mountain View, CA, with her husband and children. -
