Before coming to Stanford I worked in management consulting for BCG, were I helped clients in the Industrial Goods space to improve their operations, supported Financial Institutions to re-define their strategies and helped high tech innovators to create a scalable business model and look for funding. Prior to BCG, I was a high school teacher of Leadership and Social Engagement and I worked as an intern at Simon de Cirene Foundation helping micro-entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.
I hold a degree in Industrial Engineering with a Diploma in Electrical Engineering and specialization in Astronomical Instrumentation. During my undergraduate studies, I co-managed and co-founded social projects for students. -

BioLuis has been a technology transfer professional at Stanford for over 30 years. He is a volunteer for Climate Donor, Inc. a non-profit that helps fund climate change and species extinction mitigation projects. Prior to joining Stanford he worked on solar energy systems and energy management at Honeywell and Pacific Gas & Electric. He has a degree in Energy Systems Engineering from Arizona State University, is a Fellow of the Disruptor Foundation and is a recipient of an award for Excellence in Technology Transfer from the Department of Energy, Federal Laboratory Consortium.

Chris Mentzel

BioChris is executive director of a newly formed data science effort at Stanford University, which engages the entire campus community in developing and leveraging new data science theory and practice to accelerate research.
Previously, Chris started and led the Moore Foundation's Data-Driven Discovery Initiative, an $80 million effort within the Science Program to enable data scientists to turn the scientific data deluge into opportunities to address some of today's most important research questions. He also led the grants administration department and worked as senior network engineer for the foundation. Chris has held positions as a systems engineer and integrator at the University of California, Berkeley, and at various Internet consulting firms in the Bay Area. An active member of the broader big data and open science communities, Chris serves on a number of advisory boards and program committees and speaks frequently at conferences and workshops on topics related to data-driven research.
Chris received a B.A. in mathematics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an M.Sc. in management science and engineering at Stanford University. -
