Chikara is a third-year PhD in the Emmett Interdisciplinary Program in Environment and Resources (E-IPER) studying the distributional impacts of climate and clean energy policies. In particular, he is interested in using insights from labor economics to to study the impact of such policies on low-income households, both using econometric techniques as well as simulation using energy–economy models.

Chikara worked for the White House Council on Environmental Quality under the Obama Administration between his second and third years, where he worked on the U.S. Mid-Century Strategy for Deep Decarbonization.
