Projects


  • Fabrication and Testing of a Coded Aperture with Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CZT) Array, Sonoma State University (8/2013 - 7/2014)

    Simulated, built and tested a coded aperture system using an existing cadmium zinc telluride array to image hard X-rays and soft gamma-rays. This system could then be used as a model for future medical imaging applications and X-ray/gamma ray astronomy on a CubeSat project.

  • T-LogoQube Satellite, Sonoma State University a Morehead State University (6/2013 - 1/2014)

    Over the summer of 2013, we designed, built and tested a 3U PocketQube satelite. T-LogoQube was successfully launched on November 21, 2013 into a polar, sun synchronous 634km orbit. Operation was nominal until mid January, 2014 when T-LogoQube went silent.
    EagleCAD was used to design and modify the flight circuit board.
    In-house circuit board manufacturing was performed using photolithography and chemical etching.
    Radio communication was preformed in the 70cm band (HAM). Each packet was sent as a pair of points at two frequencies ~437.465 +- 0.012 MHzless

Work Experience


  • Embedded Systems Engineer, Sonoma State University (6/1/2014 - 7/1/2015)

    I helped design and program MSP430 based embedded systems for environmental sensing in LOGO language. This work is part of SSU E/PO's Department of Education Investing in Innovation grant to create a two-year hands-on curriculum for high-needs rural schools in six Mendocino County high schools. The goal of the program is to train students to design and construct their own scientific experiments, to make measurements and to analyze and present the results.
