Javier started at Stanford in 1999 as the Grants Manager for a faculty member at the Graduate School of Education. Shortly after, he was promoted to the Finance and Faculty Affairs Officer position in the Dean's Office. After a short leave in 2007, Javier returned as a Research Process Manager in the Research Management Group at the School of Medicine. He worked on that capacity until 2011 when he joined the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences on his current position.

Current Role at Stanford

Javier manages a portion of the GES Department pre and post Sponsored Research awards, department finances, and 3 Affiliate Programs. He also manages the finances for shared facilities, and several faculty labs. Javier reports to the Department Manager, Lauren Nelson and serves as her back up during her absence. Other responsibilities include approving day-to-day financial transactions on sponsored research, operating budget, faculty unrestricted accounts, affiliates agreements, affiliates invoicing, subcontracts, and to provide support to the Department Manager as needed.
