Bio
Proven leader and expert in research administration with extensive experience working with researchers, building teams and establishing programs. I have experience in a broad range of subjects and welcome new challenges.
Currently Director of Strategy and Operations for the Center for Definitive and Curative Medicine (CDCM), a a team that facilitates the translation of lab-based discoveries to first-in-human cell and gene therapies. As Stanford's hub for cell and gene therapy, the CDCM provides expertise and know-how in the translational process. I lead a diverse team of project managers, research development experts, coordinators, and operations staff. Together we ensure researchers have access to the resources needed to advance their projects and ultimately reach patients.
My career has spanned roles in pre-award/grant development, business management, post-award finance, and operations. I am a proven leader who understands how to bring faculty and staff together to accomplish ambitious goals and do so efficiently. I was instrumental in building the CDCM and before that the research infrastructure in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford. As the inaugural Director of Research in Pediatrics, I had oversight of research operations, financial management practices, policies, and procedures. The Department's research portfolio spanned bench to bedside with sponsored research expenditures of ~$50M per year and realized growth exceeding 100% in four years.
In my years of academic and research administration experience, I have worked in a foreign university, been an institutional signing official handling pre-award and compliance, managed a clinical department, and have participated in various University committees and focus groups that aim to improve research administration processes. I am an active member of the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA), serve as Co-Chair of the Region VI/VII LeadMe Mentoring Program, serve on the national Board of Directors, present at regional and national meetings, and teach a traveling workshop in Contract Negotiation and Administration.
