Bio
Proven leader and expert in research administration with extensive experience building teams and programs. I focus on adaptability and efficiency by implementing processes to facilitate workflow and communication. My experience includes finance, administration, business development and compliance.
Currently Director of Strategy and Operations for the Center for Definitive and Curative Medicine (CDCM), a translational research center focused on developing first-in-human cell and gene therapies for patients with diseases once thought of as incurable. The CDCM is an interdepartmental team and lives in the Departments of Pediatrics, Medicine, and the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine. In this role I am responsible for strategy, finance, operations, business development, program management and coordination, and effectuating the CDCM’s support of investigator-initiated clinical translational studies from initial discovery through completion of phase I/II proof-of-concept. My key roles are to manage, plan, and execute clinical development programs and studies, including strategic and long range planning, oversight and management of programs, their timelines, budgets, and study management plans.
My previous roles include pre-award, business management, and director roles. The most recent past position I held was as Director of Research Administration in the Department of Pediatrics, where I had oversight of research operations, financial management practices, policies, and procedures. The Department's research portfolio spanned bench to bedside with sponsored research expenditures of ~$50M per year and realized growth exceeding 100% in four years.
In my 20+ years of academic and research administration experience, I have worked in a foreign university, been an institutional signing official handling pre-award and compliance, managed a clinical department, and have participated in various University committees and focus groups that aim to improve research administration processes. I am an active member of the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA), serve as Chair of Region VI, present at regional and national meetings, and teaching traveling workshops.
