Bio
Julian Genkins is a clinical informatics fellow and internal medicine physician with a background in EHR development and implementation, medical education, and computer/data science. Dr. Genkins has a BS in computer science and biology from Duke University, received his MD degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and completed an internal medicine residency at UCSF with a focus in Health Professions Education (HPE). Between his undergraduate and medical school, he worked as a software developer at Epic Systems in Verona, WI.
Clinically, Dr. Genkins currently practices as a hospitalist, however has career interests in both inpatient and outpatient care and globally in preventative medicine. In the area of medical education/HPE, he has worked on EHR training curricula and implementation with Vanderbilt Health, EHR-related clinical skills competency training for medical students at UCSF, and as a subject matter expert for the American Medical Association EHR and telehealth education workgroups. He has research and QI interests in workflow analysis, human-computer interaction, physician efficiency/burnout, and cognitive psychology as well as informatics education and knowledge management.
