Lisel Murdock is a doctoral student in Language, Literacy, and English Education. She earned an A.B. in Sociology and English from Dartmouth College and an M.S. in Early Childhood General and Special Education from Bank Street College. Prior to Stanford, she taught elementary school for students struggling with speech and language as well as leading a tutoring program for low-income students struggling with mathematics in Manhattan for four years. Working with Maren Aukerman, her research interests are in reading comprehension, motivation, and linguistic varietal understanding in the elementary classroom.
