Bio


I am Visiting Associate Professor at Stanford during Fall 2021 and Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Research in the Social Sciences for the rest of the academic year. When I am not in the Bay Area, I am Associate Professor and Director of Cultural Heritage and Preservation Studies at Rutgers University (NJ), with associate appointments in Anthropology, History, Geography, Landscape Architecture and the School of Planning and Public Policy. I also hold an Honorary Associate Professor position at the Institute of Archaeology of University College London and have lots of Zoom meetings in my role as Vice President of the Association of Critical Heritage Studies. I have a PhD in Anthropology from Stanford University, an MA in Principles of Conservation from University College London, and a BA in Archaeology and Anthropology from the University of Cambridge.
