Ranga Jayaraman is Associate Dean and Chief Digital Officer at Stanford University Graduate School of Business and an advisor to technology start-ups and VCs. Ranga's current focus areas are distance and online educational technology, cloud based IT services, consumer based technology adoption in enterprises, and socialized problem solving. Ranga has extensive operational experience with driving IT standardization, consolidation, outsourcing and globalization as CIO in multi-billion dollar global enterprises. In his corporate roles, Ranga has negotiated large contracts with most major IT companies and established mutually beneficial partnerships with many startups. Ranga is a 28 year veteran of high tech industry. Most recently he was the CIO for Nvidia corporation, the world leader in visual, high performance, and mobile computing technologies and the inventor of the GPU. Prior to that Ranga was the CIO for Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, a global leader in storage technologies. Ranga started his career as a research staff member in IBM Research and progressed through levels of management to vice president of business information and transformation for Storage Technology Division of IBM. Ranga holds a PhD in mechanical engineering, MS in electrical and mechanical engineering from Stanford and a BTech in mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
