Distinguished Staff Scientist, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory
Bio
Michael Soltis is a Distinguished Staff Scientist and Co-Department Division Head of the Structural Molecular Biology group at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. His research focuses on the development of novel techniques, specialized instrumentation, and innovative methodologies that enable major advances in macromolecular X-ray crystallography research at synchrotron and X-ray free electron laser (XFEL) facilities. These innovations include advanced phasing methods, ultra-high-resolution structure determinations, the use of micro-crystals, in-situ studies of catalytic intermediates, and automated data collection and processing workflows for multi-crystal datasets and high-throughput fragment-based drug discovery.
