Jeffrey Bunker
Fellow in Medicine - Med/Infectious Diseases
BioI am a physician-scientist trained in immunology, microbiology, and infectious diseases. I completed an MD and PhD at the University of Chicago and residency in internal medicine at Stanford University, where I am currently a clinical fellow in infectious diseases and postdoctoral researcher.
My research focuses on adaptive immune responses to microbiota, diet, and pathogens at mucosal surfaces. Dysregulation of these responses is thought to underlie inflammatory bowel diseases, food allergies, celiac disease, and certain infections. My work applies a “specificity-first” approach: by developing tools to resolve lymphocyte antigen receptor specificity at scale, we are interrogating fundamental mechanisms of mucosal tolerance, immunity, and disease, uncovering how specific antigens drive cell fate and function.
I am an active clinician specializing in the diagnosis and management of complex infectious diseases, including antimicrobial-resistant infections and HIV.
