TAMER CETIN

BioTamer Çetin is a research scientist at Stanford working in applied econometrics, causal inference, and machine learning, with a focus on developing robust methods for statistically reliable empirical analysis. His research spans econometric theory and applications involving weak identification, instrumental variables, debiased machine learning, and high-dimensional causal estimation.
At Stanford, his work connects modern statistical learning tools with classical questions in identification, inference, and policy evaluation. His research aims to improve the reliability of empirical conclusions when researchers and scientists face complex data, multiple identification strategies, or imperfect instruments.
Before joining Stanford, Dr. Çetin held research and teaching roles across academia, consulting, and industry. He has taught courses in economics, econometrics, and data science. His broader interests include causal inference, health and labor economics, machine learning for empirical research, market regulation, and antitrust. -
Hsien-Hwa Alice Cha
Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine
BioDr. Hsien-Hwa Alice Cha is a Clinical Assistant Professor of the Division of Hospital Medicine in the School of Medicine. A Bay Area native, she received her undergraduate degree from University of California, Berkeley with Honors in Molecular Cell Biology - Biochemistry. She completed her medical education at New York Medical College and her Internal Medicine Residency at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara in 2016. She joined the Division of Hospital Medicine at Stanford Health-Care in Tri-Valley in 2016 as a hospitalist. She led the Tri-Valley Section as Section Chief from 2020-2023, during which she expanded the section’s clinical capabilities to include orthopedic pre-op care, and dedicated nocturnal care with nocturnists. Her interest in medical education led her to co-found Stanford Health-Care Tri-Valley’s Clinical Academy in 2019, a program designed for high school juniors and seniors interested in exploring medicine as a career. She was the recipient of the Department of Medicine’s Teaching Award for the Tri-Valley Division in 2022. Her other interests include clinical implications of metals, opioid stewardship, bioethics, undergraduate medical education, and physician leadership development.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two young children, cooking toddler meals, and watching crime dramas. -

Chayut Chaiperm

Visiting Scholar, Orthopaedic SurgeryBioDr. Chayut Chaiperm is an attending orthopaedic surgeon in the Division of Orthopaedics at Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. He earned his MD from Chulalongkorn University (2015), completed orthopaedic residency training (2020), and pursued fellowship training in adult hip and knee reconstruction (2021). His clinical interests include adult hip and knee reconstruction, with a focus on robotic-assisted surgery and technology-enabled techniques to optimize patient outcomes.
Dr. Chaiperm is a member of the Royal College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of Thailand (RCOST) and the Thai Hip and Knee Society (THKS), and he recently became a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS).
