Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy research interest is in the epidemiology, pathophysiology, prevention, and treatment of infections in children. Much of this research has focused on viral infections, especially those caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV). I have conducted a number of studies concerned with the epidemiology of HSV-2 infections in pregnant women, their partners, and neonates.

Rajesh Punn, M.D.
Clinical Professor, Pediatrics - Cardiology
BioDr. Rajesh Punn is a pediatric cardiologist and clinical professor at Stanford University with expertise in advanced echocardiography, congenital heart disease imaging, and fetal cardiology. He serves as Director of Ambulatory Cardiology at the Stanford Pediatric Heart Center, where his work focuses on optimizing outpatient care delivery and integrating imaging into clinical decision-making.
His academic interests center on ventricular function, fetal and pediatric echocardiography, and translational imaging applications in congenital heart disease. He is actively involved in multicenter research collaborations and has authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Punn also serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography.
In addition to his clinical and research work, he is deeply engaged in mentorship of fellows, residents, and medical students, with a focus on developing the next generation of clinicians and physician-scientists in pediatric cardiology.
