Bio


Anna (Ania) Howley is an Immunology PhD student. She received her BS in Biology from College of the Holy Cross in 2022, where she investigated the function of APOBEC3G variants in the context of HIV infection in the laboratory of Dr. Ann Sheehy. After completing her degree, she joined the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University. Using an organ-on-chip model, she studied the effects of radiation-induced injury on human bone marrow and developed an in-vitro model of Shwachman Diamond Syndrome using shRNA-based knockdown in primary CD34+ progenitor cells. She came to Stanford University in 2024.
