Current Research and Scholarly Interests


Brenda Valdes is a PhD student in Developmental and Psychological Sciences at Stanford University. Her work draws on longitudinal quantitative methods to study student development across time, with a focus on language, learning, and academic growth. She is particularly interested in how school and sociocultural contexts interact with individual factors to shape developmental outcomes. Brenda is affiliated with the Padilla Lab and The Gardner Center. Prior to Stanford, she earned her BA in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and brings a strong commitment to advancing equity-driven research through rigorous methodology.
