She has been employed by Stanford since 1986 when she began her career as a bedside nurse, working on a cancer clinical trials unit. She completed a MS in oncology nursing at UCSF in 1990 focusing on better understanding of cancer biology which led to a new role for her at Stanford between 1990-1996 as Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist. When not at Stanford, Kathleen spends time with her family - husband and two sons who both are attending college. She loves spending time in the Pacific Northwest hiking and in the outdoors. Baking, cooking, and musical theater are a few of her favorite hobbies!
