Diane Phuong Lam
Lecturer, Mechanical Engineering - Design
BioDiane Lam joined Stanford's Center for Teaching and Learning in 2018 as an Associate Director. After much coursework and completing her MS degree in biology, she worked in the biotechnology industry for a couple years before changing directions to study education. She earned her PhD in STEM education from UC Berkeley, studying the impact of instructional framing on transfer and how students study biology through visualizations. She then served as a post-doctoral curriculum fellow at Harvard Medical School where she mainly supported the Immunology Master's program.
At Stanford, Diane focuses on supporting STEM faculty and lecturers. She is passionate about sharing her classroom experiences and understanding of educational research literature with other instructors.
