Georgina Beaty
Lecturer, English
BioGeorgina is the author of the short story collection The Party is Here (Freehand Books, 2021). Her fiction has appeared in New England Review, The Walrus, The New Quarterly, The Fiddlehead, PRISM and elsewhere. As an actor and playwright, she’s worked with theatres across Canada and internationally. A 2020-2022 Stegner Fellow in fiction, she holds an MFA from the University of British Columbia, has been supported by fiction residencies at MacDowell, Jentel and The Banff Centre, and was a screenwriting resident at the Canadian Film Centre. She's currently a Jones Lecturer in Creative Writing at Stanford University.

Kate Folk

BioKate Folk is the author of a novel, Sky Daddy (Random House 2025), and a short story collection, Out There (Random House 2022). Her stories and essays have appeared in The New Yorker, the New York Times Magazine, n+1, One Story, Granta, and The Baffler, among other venues. A 2019-2021 Stegner Fellow, she’s also received fellowships from MacDowell, the Headlands Center for the Arts, and Willapa Bay AiR. She is currently a lecturer in creative writing at Stanford University.

Emily Geminder

BioEmily Geminder is the author of Dead Girls and Other Stories, winner of the Dzanc Books Short Story Prize. Her work has appeared in AGNI, American Short Fiction, Conjunctions, Kenyon Review, New England Review, Tin House, and elsewhere. A 2023-2025 Wallace Stegner Fellow in fiction, her writing has been supported by Yaddo, Hedgebrook, and the Center for Feminist Research. She currently teaches creative writing at Stanford.

Vida Celina James

BioVida James is Nuyorican, currently living in San Francisco. She was a 2024-2026 Wallace Stegner fellow at Stanford University. Her writing has been supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, The Center for Fiction, Periplus, Storyknife, Tin House, Bread Loaf, MASS MoCA, the St. Botolph Club Foundation, and VONA. She holds an MFA from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst and an MSW from Hunter College. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in The Kenyon Review, Story, New England Review, and elsewhere.

Mark Labowskie

Affiliate, EnglishBioMark Labowskie is a Jones Lecturer and former Wallace Stegner Fellow. His stories have appeared in The Missouri Review, ZYZZYVA, American Short Fiction, Subtropics, and elsewhere, and his writing has been supported by the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, Lighthouse Works, VCCA, and Millay Arts. In addition to fiction workshops, he teaches courses on screenwriting and queer literature.

Sara Michas-Martin

BioSara Michas-Martin is a poet and nonfiction writer who draws inspiration from science and the natural world. Specific teaching interests include ecopoetics, environmental humanities, science communication, and hybrid forms.
Her book, Gray Matter, winner of the Poets Out Loud Prize and nominated for the Colorado Book Award, explores the relationship between biology, the brain, and one’s conscious understanding of self. Black Box, forthcoming from Catapult Books (nonfiction), draws on medical, cultural, and natural history to consider how the logic of the maternal body corresponds, or is in tension with, ecological and social systems. Fire Weather, a poetry manuscript, takes on deep ecology and the ethics of care in our moment of environmental precarity.
Sara holds a BFA in visual art from the University of Michigan and an MFA in poetry from the University of Arizona. Her work has been supported by a Wallace Stegner fellowship, grants from the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund for Women, the Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Prize, as well as fellowships from the Vermont Studio Center, Virginia Center for the Arts, Marble House Project, the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, and the Community of Writers.
Recent poems and essays have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, received notable mentions in Best American Essays and Best American Science and Nature Writing anthologies, and have appeared in the American Poetry Review, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), Longreads, New England Review, Orion, Kenyon Review, Terrain.org, and elsewhere. She lives in the mountains with her family east of Monterey Bay.
