Rong Liu
Postdoctoral Scholar, Biology
BioRong Liu is a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Biology at Stanford University. Her research focuses on biodiversity, biogeography, and plant functional ecology, with particular interest in understanding how plant traits, evolutionary history, and environmental gradients shape global patterns of species diversity. She uses large-scale herbarium records, functional trait data, phylogenies, and spatial modelling approaches to study plant bioregionalization and ecological responses to environmental change.

David Long
Postdoctoral Scholar, Physics
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDavid is a theoretical condensed matter physicist with an expertise in systems far from equilibrium. His research focuses on the dynamics of quantum systems, including robust topological effects in systems out of equilibrium, quantum chaos and thermalization, and (nearly) many-body localized systems.

Pablo Lopez Guardiola
Graduate Visiting Researcher Student, Communication
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy research examines how generative AI and immersive technologies (virtual, augmented and mixed reality) transform education, human communication and public deliberation. At the Stanford Deliberative Democracy Lab I study Deliberative Polling in the Metaverse, and at UCAM I lead randomized studies on immersive learning in health sciences and the governed adoption of generative AI in higher education.
