Felix Janos Horvath

BioI'm an Austrian medical student at Heidelberg University and, since March 2026, a Visiting Student Researcher. I work in the Department of Radiology at Stanford, where Prof. Heike Daldrup-Link supervises my doctoral work.
We develop AI methods for pediatric whole-body PET/MRI. Segmentation models are trained almost entirely on adult scans, and children are not small adults, so anatomy that changes with age is where those models fail. We are also assembling a public pediatric PET/MRI dataset so other groups can test their methods. Pediatric medicine runs on a fraction of the evidence adult medicine has, because the cohorts are small and the studies are hard to run. That is the gap I want to work in, not least because the impact you can have here lasts a lifetime.
My background is a technical one. At school in Graz I spent my free time building robots with a team that made it to the RoboCup World Championship in Sydney, and my thesis was on CRISPR/Cas9 as a tool against malaria. Both halves were there early. I went into medicine rather than engineering because I wanted work that happens between people and not only in front of a screen. Since starting med school, I finished the first written part of the German licensing examination in the top 1% nationwide.
Outside the lab I spend most of my time playing sports. I started tennis when I was very young and later switched to volleyball. Recently I picked up triathlon and finished my first Ironman at the European Championships. -

Shaikh Tanvir Hossain

BioTanvir is a Postdoctoral Researcher (Remote, based in Bangladesh) at the Geldsetzer Lab, led by Dr. Pascal Geldsetzer. He completed his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Business and Economics, TU Dortmund, Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Carsten Jentsch, and is currently working with the team to apply causal inference and econometric methods to dementia research. His research interests lie at the intersection of Causal Inference, Econometrics, and Machine Learning.

Niloufar Hosseinalipour

BioNiloufar joined the French literature graduate program at the University of Minnesota in Fall 2023, completed her M.A. in June 2025, and is now pursuing her PhD. At Stanford, she participates in the Storytelling and Medicine program. Her research takes a historiographical approach to the intersections of French and Francophone literary traditions, the history of medicine, feminist thought, and postcolonial theory. She is particularly interested in how literary and medical discourses have collaborated in the pathologization of racialized and gendered bodies, and how these histories continue to shape contemporary understandings of illness and subjectivity. Drawing on thinkers such as Gayatri Spivak, Michel Foucault, and Georges Canguilhem, her work explores questions of representation, translation, and epistemic violence, as well as the ways literature both exposes and conceals the voices of marginalized subjects. Her interest in these issues is grounded in broader concerns about psychiatry’s political responsibility, the ethical stakes of diagnosis, and the role of narrative in mediating suffering.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsOur lab’s research portfolio crosses multiple disciplines including computational neuropsychiatry, cognitive neuroscience, multimodal neuroimaging and neurocognitive rehabilitation. Our computational neuropsychiatry research mainly involves investigating alterations in the organization of connectome in various neurodevelopmental and neurocognitive disorders using state of the art neuroimaging techniques (fMRI, sMRI, DWI, functional NIRS) combined with novel computational methods (graph theoretical and multivariate pattern analyses).
The ultimate goal of our research is to translate the findings from computational neuropsychiatry research toward developing personalized interventions. We have been developing personalized interventions that integrate computerized cognitive rehabilitation, real-time functional brain imaging and neurofeedback, as well as virtual reality (VR) tailored toward targeted rehabilitation of the affected brain networks in patients with neurocognitive disorders.
