Kevin Helenius, MPA, PA-C, ATC

BioKevin Helenius is a board-certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He graduated with his Master Physician Assistant (MPA) degree from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA. Kevin is also a board-certified athletic trainer (ATC) and began his career in sports medicine as the athletic trainer at a local high school in San Jose, CA. Kevin recently returned to the Sports Medicine clinic at Stanford Health Care, where he previously worked prior to his PA education. He currently assists Dr. Tim McAdams in surgery and provides patient care in the outpatient clinic setting. Kevin is also a clinical instructor and PAC Mentor with the Stanford School of Medicine Master of Science in Physician Assistant (PA) Studies program.

Jon Hochstein

Affiliate, Department FundsBioI'm a Cardiothoracic Surgery resident at Stanford Health Care. I also completed an intern year in Pediatrics resident at Boston Children’s Hospital before transitioning to cardiothoracic surgery. I received my MD from Harvard Medical School in the Health Sciences and Technology program joint with MIT. I trained as a biomedical engineering at the Johns Hopkins University with a focus in instrumentation.
I've interests in medical devices spanning from assistive robotics, surgical devices, to point of care devices. I have extensive experience working in the electronics and coding aspect of device development.
My long term goal is to become a congenital cardiovascular surgeon and improve the field of transplantation (partial and whole), congenital cardiac surgery techniques, and congenital mechanical circulatory support. This vocation comes from my personal experience receiving a heart transplant in 1999. -

Fellow in Pediatrics - Peds/Critical CareBioCurrent combined adult and pediatric critical care fellow physician interested in medical education, curriculum design, and health services for adolescent and young adults with childhood-onset chronic conditions and medical complexity.
Most recently, I pursued my internal medicine and pediatrics (MedPeds) residency, chief residency and a medical education fellowship at the University of Illinois in Chicago. During this time, I helped implement our new X+Y resident schedule, created a multidisciplinary medical education track for residents, revamped curricula on resident mistreatment and self-advocacy, and worked with both the pediatric and adult critical care teams to develop resuscitation simulation bootcamps. My academic and institutional service interests revolved around the evolution of expertise and belonging over the course of training, particularly as it pertains to critical care resuscitation, medical educators in training, and underrepresented groups in medicine.
