Meng Chen, MD

BioDr. Chen is a double board-certified, fellowship-trained specialist in allergy and immunology and internal medicine. She is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine.
With training in pediatric and adult allergy/immunology, Dr. Chen provides expertise in chronic urticaria, angioedema, drug allergy, severe asthma, food allergy and allergic rhinitis. She excels at addressing the impact of allergies on quality of life and productivity. Driven by a desire to help people and deliver exceptional care, Dr. Chen takes great pride in the effectiveness and efficiency of her services, her attention to detail, and the excellent patient satisfaction scores she earns. She has trained and worked in a broad range of clinical care settings, including private practice, the Veterans Administration, major health systems, and academic medical centers, like Stanford Health Care.
Dr. Chen has extensive research experience, from study start-up to manuscript preparation. Dr. Chen has authored numerous scholarly publications on topics including urticaria, angioedema and food allergies. She has presented the findings of her research to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Annual Scientific Meeting and other conferences. Her work has appeared in the journals Pediatric Allergy; the Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; JAMA; as well as book chapters on immunology. Dr. Chen has received honors and awards for her scholarship. She is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; and, the Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Foundation of Northern California.
Dr. Chen’s academic passion is medical education and fostering the growth of medical trainees. She is particularly interested in harnessing the power of coaching to promote self-efficacy and wellness in medicine. She serves as the Well-Being Director for the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine and also as a Faculty Coach in the School of Medicine’s Student Guidance Program. -

BioKaïssa de Boer, MD is a board certified pulmonologist who specializes in the care of patients with interstitial lung disease. She completed her Internal Medicine and Pulmonary training at the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Canada where her initial interest in caring for patients with fibrotic lung disease first developed. Subsequently she completed a fellowship in Interstitial Lung Disease at the University of California, San Francisco under the direction of Dr. Harold Collard. Dr. de Boer has a special interest in patients with connective tissue disease associated lung disease and those with drug induced pneumonitis. In addition she is actively involved in the ILD training and program development of Stanford's Pulmonary Allergy and Critical Care Fellows.

She graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine and completed her residency training as well as a critical care fellowship at Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey.
As a visiting researcher, Dr. Er integrates her clinical expertise with advanced computational methods. Her research focuses on interstitial lung diseases, with an emphasis on radiomics, and on analyzing diverse datasets related to respiratory diseases using data-driven approaches. BioStella Hartono, MD PhD is a board-certified allergy/immunology physician and clinical researcher. She specializes in diagnosing and treating immunology and allergic conditions, with a focus on immunodeficiency, immune dysregulation, hyper eosinophilia, and pet allergies.
Dr. Hartono’s clinical research focuses on the role of age-associated B cells in vaccine response and the aging immune system. She is also interested in improving diagnosis and treatment options for patients with CVID (common variable immunodeficiency) and SAD (specific antibody deficiency). She has published her original research in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented at national conferences, including annual meetings for the Clinical Immunology Society and the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology, as well as international conferences, including annual meeting for the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. Most recently, I pursued my internal medicine and pediatrics (MedPeds) residency, chief residency and a medical education fellowship at the University of Illinois in Chicago. During this time, I helped implement our new X+Y resident schedule, created a multidisciplinary medical education track for residents, revamped curricula on resident mistreatment and self-advocacy, and worked with both the pediatric and adult critical care teams to develop resuscitation simulation bootcamps. My academic and institutional service interests revolved around the evolution of expertise and belonging over the course of training, particularly as it pertains to critical care resuscitation, medical educators in training, and underrepresented groups in medicine.
