Akshay Paruchuri

AI4ALL Graduate Mentor, Stanford Pre-Collegiate StudiesBioI'm a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University, advised by Professor Ehsan Adeli. I'm affiliated with the Stanford Translational AI (STAI) Lab and the Stanford Vision and Learning (SVL) Lab. I earned my PhD in computer science at UNC Chapel Hill under the advisement of Professor Henry Fuchs. I build and evaluate multimodal AI systems, from general-purpose methods for interactive computing to applications in healthcare. Currently, I'm working toward a future where multimodal AI can safely and reliably integrate into healthcare systems in order to improve the entire patient journey, from advanced diagnostic imaging and surgical support to all-day health monitoring and management, with the aim to achieve better therapeutic outcomes for cancer and aging-related diseases. I'm generally interested in opportunities that would allow me to continue to deepen my research expertise while leading and working on projects that benefit people everywhere, whether through foundational research, real-world products, or shaping how these systems are evaluated and deployed.
Previously, I was a visiting researcher at IDSIA USI-SUPSI working with Professor Piotr Didyk on the interpretability of multimodal language models (MLMs) with respect to capabilities such as visual perception. I've published in leading venues on topics such as remote health sensing (WACV, NeurIPS), 3D reconstruction (ECCV, MICCAI), LLM-based conversational agents for personal health (EMNLP, Nature Communications), and energy-efficient operation of smart glasses (ISMAR). I've done internships at Google AR/VR, Google Consumer Health Research, and Kitware. -
Adam Pines

BioAdam Pines, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral fellow with Drs. Anish Mitra and Nolan Williams, PhD. Adam completed his Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Adam’s work centers on neurodevelopment and the role of hierarchical brain function in mood disorder emergence and remission.

Julia Rachel Plank
Postdoctoral Scholar, Psychiatry
BioI am a postdoctoral researcher in the BRain Imaging, Development, and GEnetics (BRIDGE) Laboratory in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Currently my work focuses on the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for improving understanding of the neuropathophysiology underlying neuropsychiatric disorders with a genetic basis.
My PhD investigated the use of neuroimaging techniques (diffusion MRI, quantitative magnetization transfer, magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging, electroencephalography) for detection of neuroinflammation in human participants.
My research interests are centered on the clinical applications of MRI for elucidation of pathology and improving diagnosis and treatment. -
Katie Rozzell-Voss

BioKatie received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. She completed her predoctoral clinical psychology internship at the University of California, San Diego, where she worked at the UCSD Eating Disorder Center for Treatment and Research and Rady Children's Hospital. Katie's research interests focus on the impact of body image distress and internalized weight bias on disordered eating and other health behaviors, measurement invariance of eating disorder assessments across diverse populations, and neuroendocrinological risk factors of eating disorders. She currently works as a postdoctoral fellow in the Eating Disorders Clinic and Student Athlete Mental Health Clinic at Stanford.

Rachel Schuck

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy research interests center on improving support services for autistic individuals—particularly by incorporating feedback from the autistic/autism community—and increasing access to high quality supports. I am also interested in assessing attitudes toward neurodiversity and promoting understanding of neurodiversity amongst the general population in the hopes of improving quality of life for neurodivergent people and their families.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsI work on using digital health technologies to detect and monitor aging relevant health indicators and outcomes using cutting-edge machine and deep learning approaches, with the goal to make our healthcare system more personalised and proactive.
Current research topics include remote gait and mobility assessments, learning health representations from large-scale smartphone data, and using novel ambient intelligence approaches to foster independent living in older adults. -

Tong Shan
Postdoctoral Scholar, Psychiatry
BioTong completed her Ph.D. at the University of Rochester. She also holds an M.S. in Biostatistics from Northwestern University and a B.S. in Medical Imaging from Sichuan University.
In her research, Tong has explored topics such as subcortical and cortical neural responses to naturalistic speech and music, neural mechanisms underlying musical perception, and the impact of visual cues on speech-in-noise comprehension.
Currently, Tong is involved in the Speaker-Listener projects, where she investigates brain activities related to natural communication. She is excited to deepen her understanding of auditory processing of speech during communication and its implications for improving quality of life, particularly in clinical populations such as individuals with ASD, AD, etc.
Outside of her research, Tong is a music producer, creating original songs and soundtracks for video games. She has a passion for exploring the intersection of art and technology. -
Chun Yin Siu

BioChunyin Siu (Alex) is a postdoctoral scholar in the Brain Dynamics Lab, led by Prof. Mannish Saggar, at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He specializes in topological data analysis and its application in analyzing neuroimaging data.
He got his PhD degree in Applied Mathematics at Cornell University under the supervision of Prof. Gennady Samorodnitsky. Before that, he got this MPhil. degree in Mathematics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Prof. Ronald (Lokming) Lui.
