Ruoxi Pi

BioI received my BS in Biological Sciences in Zhejiang University in China, where I conducted research in polyphasic taxonomy in anaerobic bacteria. I received my PhD in Yale University, where I studied the early events of retrovirus infection in animal models. Now in the Blish lab, I am investigating NK cell responses during HIV-1 infection and trying to manipulate the NK cells to target latently infected cells.

Malvika Pillai

BioMalvika Pillai is a postdoctoral research fellow in the VA Big Data Scientist Training Enhancement Program (BD-STEP), jointly in Stanford University in Medicine (Biomedical Informatics) in the Boussard Lab and VA Palo Alto. She received her BS in Quantitative Biology and PhD in Health Informatics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her current work focuses on the development, evaluation and implementation of machine learning algorithms for clinical decision support.

Adam Pines
Postdoctoral Scholar, Psychiatry
BioAdam Pines, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral fellow in the Stanford PanLab for Precision Psychiatry and Translational Neuroscience with Director Leanne M. Williams, PhD. Adam completed his Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Adam’s work centers on hierarchical cortical development and its overlap with hierarchical cognition (i.e., bottom-up and top-down processing). In the PanLab, Adam is investigating the role of deficits in cortical function in cognitive psychopathology. His other research interests include developmental neuroscience, brain-environment interactions, and adaptive plasticity in the brain.

Julia Rachel Plank
Postdoctoral Scholar, Psychiatry
BioI am a postdoctoral researcher in the BRain Imaging, Development, and GEnetics (BRIDGE) Laboratory in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Currently my work focuses on the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for improving understanding of the neuropathophysiology underlying neuropsychiatric disorders with a genetic basis.
My PhD investigated the use of neuroimaging techniques (diffusion MRI, quantitative magnetization transfer, magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging, electroencephalography) for detection of neuroinflammation in human participants.
My research interests are centered on the clinical applications of MRI for elucidation of pathology and improving diagnosis and treatment. -
Alexandra LaPat Polasko
Postdoctoral Scholar, Urology
BioDr. Alexandra Polasko is a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University School of Medicine in the Department of Urology in Dr. James Brooks's lab. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. from UCLA in Civil and Environmental Engineering in Dr. Shaily Mahendra's lab and bachelors from UC Berkeley. Before coming to Stanford, she was a postdoctoral fellow at UCLA in the School of Dentistry, Oral Biology Division under Dr. Hung Ton-That where she studied the role motility plays as a virulence factor in oral pathogens. Currently, Dr. Polasko's research focuses on elucidating the mechanisms that drive benign prostate hyperplasia, which is the abnormal growth of the prostate and affects nearly 80% of men over eighty and can result in impaired urine storage and voiding as well as renal failure. She is a co-inventor on two patents and received UCLA's prestigious Distinguished Teaching Award for Teaching Assistants (2021).

Marina Pouliadi
Postdoctoral Scholar, Psychiatry
BioI am a Specialist Counselling Psychologist, with extensive experience in working with adults, adolescents, and children diagnosed with Eating Disorders. I have been trained in a variety of psychological approaches for the treatment of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge-Eating Disorder, and other non-specified Eating Disorders, during my doctoral studies. My research interests lie within mechanisms of change in evidence-based treatments for this population. I am also investigating helpful and hindering treatment experiences of patients that receive first-line models for the treatment of Eating Disorders. As a Postdoctoral Scholar in the department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, I aim to explore different aspects of parental emotion regulation within the context of Family-Based Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy working is focused on building a 100 ps CTR pre-clinical partial ring TOF-PET scanner; specifically, by exploring, and designing high speed low noise/jitter instrumentation, and data acquisition.
I am also designing an scalable side-readout electronic to detect Cherenkov radiation and improve TOF resolution in PET detectors using BGO crystals.
