Isabelle Hsu
Camp Counselor, Psych/Major Laboratories and Clinical & Translational Neurosciences Incubator
BioIsabelle Hsu is serving as Stanford Neurodiversity Project (SNP) Network for K-12 Neurodiversity Education and Advocacy (NNEA)’s Co-Chair. Being neurordiverse, she attended SNP-REACH 2020 where she learned so much that she co-founded her high school’s Neurodiversity Club and her own nonprofit later that year. She came back to SNP-REACH 2021 to share her experience and joined the leadership team of NNEA’s core committee as the SNP-REACH Support Coordinator where she’s provided other high schoolers feedback and assistance with their neurodiversity projects. She is a counselor at SNP-REACH and serves in the 2022 Stanford Neurodiversity Summit (SNS) as an organizing committee member, speaker, and moderator. Isabelle loves music; she's been tutoring piano to autistic students for over 2 years, and she’s also been the drum major of her school’s award-winning varsity marching band.

Associate Professor of Neurobiology and, by courtesy, of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
Current Research and Scholarly Interests1) We study neural regeneration with the goal of developing treatments to prevent and reverse vision loss. (e.g., Huberman, Nature 2020; Laha and Huberman, Science, 2017; Lim et al., Nature Neuroscience, 2016).
2) We are parsing the neural circuits for anxiety, and visually-driven autonomic arousal, (e.g., Salay et al., Nature, 2018; Yilmaz-Balban et al., Current Biology, 2021).
