Dalena Ha

Resident in Graduate Medical EducationBioDalena Ha, DMD, MPH, MS is a dental provider with a strong commitment to community service, public health, and advancing access to equitable care. She is a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholar and holds degrees in Dental Medicine and Public Health from A.T. Still University, as well as a Master of Science in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University, where she concentrated on regenerative medicine and stem cell technologies.
During dental school, Dalena co-authored “The Current Applications and Efficacy of Stem Cells in Dentistry” published in EC Dental Science (2023), reflecting her interest in translational research and the future of regenerative therapies in dental care. Her academic work is rooted in a commitment to evidence-based practice and the integration of innovation into clinical decision-making.
She is the founder of the Remembering My Roots Charity Group, established in 2018 to serve underserved communities through local and international outreach. Her participation in the Good Samaritan Medical and Dental Mission further highlights her dedication to global health equity. Dalena also served as President of the ASDOH chapter of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and as a national board member on ADEA’s Council of Students, Residents, and Fellows, helping to shape student engagement and professional development in dental education. -

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy laboratory is focused on understanding the cellular mechanisms which mediate end-organ failure in pediatric sepsis. Our current work focuses on determining the role of altered mitochondrial dynamics in sepsis-induced multi-organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). Specifically, we focus on understanding the mechanisms that mediate derangements in mitochondrial fission and autophagy in sepsis.

Current Role at StanfordIn my role as Chief Operating Officer and Associate Dean, I provide oversight and strategic leadership of the operations of the School of Medicine. This includes developing and leading the execution of major strategic initiatives and ensuring foundational operations are rigorous and effectively support the tripartite missions of Education, Research and Patient Care. I am a member of the Dean's leadership team and a representative of the School of Medicine in a variety of forums throughout Stanford and externally
My role encompasses responsibilities as Associate Dean, Industry Relations and Digital Health, In this capacity, I lead Stanford Medicine’s Office of Industry Relations and Digital Health (IRDH) whose mission is to foster relationships that will promote discovery, accelerate the use of technologies that advance human health, and translate today’s breakthroughs into tomorrow’s standard of care. IRDH serves as the front door for organizations interested in exploring a strategic relationship with Stanford Medicine. The work is part of Stanford Medicine's Strategy Team, led by Priya Singh.
I also co-lead the Stanford Medicine Catalyst program with Dr. Euan Ashley. We focus on discovering, supporting and propelling healthcare innovation from within the Stanford community.
