    BioI received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2016, 2019, and 2024, respectively. After working as an Ultrasound Engineer at E-Scopics, Aix-en-Provence, France, I joined the Ultrasound Imaging and Instrumentation Lab of the Department of Radiology as a Postdoctoral Scholar in 2025. My research interests include signal processing, inverse problems, and probabilistic modeling applied to pulse-echo ultrasound imaging. My current work focuses on improving pulse-echo speed-of-sound imaging and distributed aberration correction.

    BioI am a PhD student in MR physics at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Bonn, currently visiting Stanford University. My work focuses on accelerated echo-planar imaging (EPI) for MR flow imaging at ultra-high field (7T), including k-space trajectory and gradient waveform design to speed up acquisition without compromising image quality. At Stanford, I am applying these accelerated flow-encoding methods to cardiovascular 4D-flow imaging.

    BioFernando Boada is a Professor of Radiology and Associate Chair for Basic Science Translational Research at Stanford University Medical School. [1] He joined Stanford in 2021 after being Professor of Radiology, Psychiatry and Neurosurgery at New York University Medical School and the Director of the Center for Advanced Imaging Innovation and Research. [1] Prior to joining NYU in 2012, Dr. Boada directed the MR Research Center (MRRC) at the University of Pittsburgh for ten years. [1] His research efforts have been focused on the development of novel MRI techniques for addressing open neuroimaging questions in a translational setting.

    BioI am currently a Biomedical Physics PhD candidate in the Department of Radiology. In the two years prior to Stanford, I was at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, where I worked on airborne remote sensing systems and was on the core team developing a laser-ultrasound system for medical imaging.

    My interests revolve around health technology and perception. I started in neuroscience, studying attention and cognitive control, and now work on designing systems and algorithms for sensing and processing biomedical signals. My broader interests are at the intersection between emerging technology innovation, translation, and long-term innovation strategy.

    BioAfter obtaining a Master degree in Biomedical Engineering at the Ilmenau University of Technology, Steffen completed a PhD on multimodal imaging at the University Children’s Hospital and ETH Zurich, Switzerland. He then joined the Centre for Advanced Imaging at the University of Queensland as a National Imaging Facility Fellow, where he pioneered the application of deep learning methods for quantitative susceptibility mapping, in the group of Prof Markus Barth. In 2019 Steffen joined the Siemens Healthineers collaborations team at the MGH Martinos Center in Boston during a 1 year industry exchange where he worked on the translation of deep learning reconstruction techniques into clinical applications. Since joining the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the University of Queensland in 2020 Dr Bollmann develops computational methods to process quantitative magnetic resonance imaging data. Steffen is leading the development of the NeuroDesk.org platform - a flexible, scalable, and browser-based data analysis environment for reproducible neuroimaging.

  • Robert Downey Boutin

    Robert Downey Boutin

    Clinical Professor, Radiology

    BioDr. Boutin works clinically as a musculoskeletal radiologist interpreting a broad array of diagnostic imaging examinations, most frequently MRI, CT, sonography, and radiography.

    The clinical focus for Dr. Boutin is MRI and CT of joints, bones, and muscles, as well as adding value to routine radiology exams by translating advancements from fields of artificial intelligence and imaging informatics. These advancements include enhancing routine imaging exams to help promote physical function, quality of life, and healthspan in our patients. Because the worldwide population of people > 60 years of age is projected to double by 2050, there is a crucial need for improvements in the accurate and efficient management of derangements associated with biological aging, including osteoporosis, sarcopenia, and adiposity.

    Dr. Boutin was introduced to orthopaedics at an early age by his father and older brother -- both orthopaedists. After earning undergraduate and graduate degrees at Stanford University, Dr. Boutin completed advanced fellowship training in Musculoskeletal Imaging at the University of California, San Diego, and worked on the faculty at Harvard Medical School. Core professional values include a commitment to outstanding quality, compassion, safety, and integrity.

    Dr. Boutin is a leader in musculoskeletal imaging. He is the President of the Society of Academic Bone Radiologists and serves on the Appropriateness Criteria Panel for the American College of Radiology. He is an Assistant Editor at the American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR), and recently served as the Chair of the Musculoskeletal Imaging Program Committee for the largest medical meeting in the world (RSNA).

    He is a frequent invited lecturer for continuing medical education courses, such as those at the annual meetings of the Radiological Society of North America, the International Skeletal Society, and the American Roentgen Ray Society. He also lectures regularly at the international Orthopaedic Imaging course in Davos, Switzerland.
