Meghali Aich
Postdoctoral Scholar, Neonatal and Developmental Medicine
BioMy research interest lies in understanding how environmental factors contribute to neurodevelopmental disorders and translating those insights into therapies. Aligned with this, my current research in Dr. Anca Pasca’s lab at Stanford focuses on how reductive stress associated with maternal metabolic syndrome affects fetal brain development.

Naga Achyuth Reddy Ailury
Affiliate, Surgery - Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
BioNaga Achyuth Reddy is a CIRM Bridges Research Scholar in the Hagey Laboratory at Stanford University School of Medicine under the mentorship of Dr. Michael T. Longaker. His journey to the United States marked the beginning of a new chapter, driven by a commitment to advancing his education and pursuing a career in biotechnology and regenerative medicine. Motivated by a strong interest in scientific research, he sought opportunities to develop the technical and analytical skills necessary to contribute to translational biomedical research.
To further these goals, Achyuth Reddy was selected for the highly competitive CIRM Bridges Stem Cell Technology and Laboratory Management (SCTLM) program at California State University Channel Islands. As a CIRM Bridges trainee, he participated in scientific conferences, outreach initiatives, and educational programs that broadened his understanding of stem cell biology and its impact on society. These experiences strengthened his appreciation for public engagement and the importance of advancing awareness of the transformative potential of stem cell research.
At Stanford, Achyuth Reddy conducts research focused on regenerative medicine, biomaterials, wound healing, and fibrosis. His work has provided extensive hands-on experience in stem cell and primary cell culture, murine animal models, biomaterials research, histology, Immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, protocol development, and translational research. He is passionate about bridging fundamental biological discoveries with clinical applications and enjoys working in a collaborative environment where scientific discoveries have the potential to improve patient care. In addition to conducting research, he actively develops experimental protocols, presents scientific findings, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to advance regenerative medicine. -
Raag Airan
Associate Professor of Radiology (Neuroimaging and Neurointervention) and, by courtesy, of Materials Science & Engineering and of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsOur goal is to develop and clinically implement new technologies for high-precision and noninvasive intervention upon the nervous system. Every few millimeters of the brain is functionally distinct, and different parts of the brain may have counteracting responses to therapy. To better match our therapies to neuroscience, we develop techniques that allow intervention upon only the right part of the nervous system at the right time, using technologies like focused ultrasound and nanotechnology.

Franz Ake
Postdoctoral Scholar, Pathology
BioDr. Ake is a computational biologist specializing in single-cell transcriptomics, alternative polyadenylation, and isoform regulation. His research focuses on developing computational methods and bioinformatic pipelines to characterize post-transcriptional regulation and differential isoform usage at single-cell resolution. During his PhD under the mentorship of Dr. Mireya Plass at the University of Barcelona and the IDIBELL Research Institute in Barcelona, Spain, he developed approaches for isoform quantification and the analysis of differential isoform usage in single-cell datasets.
Currently, his research at Stanford University focuses on multi-omics data integration, with a particular emphasis on spatial transcriptomics and cancer genomics to study tumor biology, tissue heterogeneity, and disease-associated molecular programs from high-dimensional sequencing data. -
Teddy J. Akiki, MD
Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (General Psychiatry and Psychology)
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Akiki's research applies artificial intelligence to neuroimaging to improve psychiatric assessment and treatment selection, with a focus on depression, anxiety, and stress-related disorders. His program develops foundation models for functional MRI, pretrained on large neuroimaging datasets and adapted to predict treatment response and symptom trajectories in clinical populations. He also uses multimodal connectomics, combining structural, functional, and diffusion MRI, to characterize the circuit dysfunction underlying these disorders. His translational work centers on clinical trials of novel and repurposed treatments that target specific brain circuits, with neuroimaging used to measure circuit-level treatment effects and identify predictors of response. In parallel, he develops clinical decision support tools that translate an individual patient's neuroimaging into brain-based markers that clinicians can use in treatment planning.

Chidi Akusobi
Fellow in Peds/Clinical Informatics
BioDr. Chidi Akusobi is a physician-scientist completing dual fellowship training in Infectious Diseases and Clinical Informatics at Stanford University School of Medicine. He holds an MD and a PhD in Microbiology from Harvard Medical School and completed internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. His research sits at the intersection of AI and infectious diseases, with a focus on developing and evaluating AI-enabled tools that strengthen infectious disease practice. Current project interests include clinical decision support for infection prevention and control, AI-backed electronic consultation for infectious diseases, and the application of ChatEHR to ID-specific chart review.
