BioDr. Jacobs is a child, adolescent & adult psychiatrist in private practice in Menlo Park, CA and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences of the Stanford University School of Medicine. Lindsay Elise Jamieson

BioLindsay Jamieson is a doctoral-level trainee whose work focuses on neuropsychological assessment and cognitive functioning across development. She contributes to research in the BRUNO Lab at Stanford, assisting with studies examining cognition, aging trajectories, and sex-related differences in Down syndrome.
Her broader interests include neurodevelopmental conditions, brain injury, and how biological and environmental factors shape cognitive outcomes. Lindsay also brings prior experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through adaptive riding and equine-assisted programs. She aims to build a career centered on thoughtful, evidence-based assessment and collaborative clinical care. -
Max Kasun
Research Professional, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioMax Kasun works in the Roberts Ethics Lab and Kim Ethics Lab at Stanford, which use empirical methods to help anticipate, clarify and resolve ethical issues in modern biomedical research. He has interests in empirical and normative thought dedicated to increasing scientific understanding and societal appreciation of the nature, internal experience, and prevalence of mental illness and well-being, as well as in moral philosophy (e.g. justice, action, capability, neo-Aristotelianism, and pragmatism), cognitive and affective sciences, and philosophy of mind (e.g. embodiment and personhood). He has co-authored scientific, peer-reviewed articles and other scholarly work investigating ethical issues in research (e.g. authentic voluntarism in informed consent), medical education, public health, and neuroscience. His most recent contributions to NIH-funded scientific work (National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences; PI: Dr. Jane Kim) have focused on investigating ethical issues encountered in the design, development, and clinical integration of artificial intelligence, e.g., how environmental and cognitive factors shape appraisals of AI tools, clinical judgments, trust, and health decision-making.
Max is a co-author of several chapters in APA's Study Guide to DSM-5-TR (2024) including the chapters on bipolar and related disorders and personality disorders (American Psychiatric Association). He has published work in and provided editorial support for the peer-reviewed journal Academic Medicine (Oxford University Press) and for two works on the subject of trauma and crisis and related interventions, including a reference guide for providing mental health care to victims of state atrocity (United Nations, Springer). Previously, he served on leadership teams for the Stanford Mental Health Technology and Innovation Hub and Neurodiversity Project.
Max is currently working to develop a new Special Initiative of the Chair on Mental Health Care for Unhoused and Justice-Involved Persons (see https://med.stanford.edu/psychiatry/special-initiatives/mhuj.html). The initiative aims to bring together a community of scholars, public stakeholders, and health care professionals to help advance more humane and participatory inquiry and health policy in service of a population that faces profound controversy, health stigma, and scientific neglect. The initiative aims to improve how science is communicated to the public and policy decision-makers and to develop more evidence-based, pragmatic, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approaches to mental health care for unhoused persons, including those who have experienced episodic or cyclical involvement in the criminal and civil justice systems. -
Edwin Kim

Dr. Kim is the Director of Addiction Treatment Services at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Healthcare System, and a Clinical Assistant Professor (Affiliated) at Stanford University School of Medicine. At the VA Palo Alto, Dr. Kim teaches and supervises medical students, residents and fellows. He is also the President-Elect of the Federation of State Physician Health Programs, and a Councilor-at-Large of the Northern California Psychiatric Society. He currently serves as a Medical Director at the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s Physicians’ Health Program and Nurses’ Health Program.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Levinson directs the Program on the Genetics of Brain Function in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The program investigates the genetic basis of psychiatric disorders (schizophrenia and major depressive disorder), using genetic association, linkage and resequencing methodologies. In collaboration with Dr. Alice Whittemore, we are also actively engaged in statistical methods testing and development for genetic research.

Staff, Psychiatry and Behavioral SciencesBioEric Lin, MD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor (Affiliated) of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine and an addiction psychiatrist at VA Palo Alto. His academic work focuses on artificial intelligence, large language models, machine learning, and psychiatry, with particular interest in the clinical evaluation, safety, and governance of AI systems used in mental health care and related psychological contexts.
Dr. Lin studies how AI systems should be assessed when they interact with patients, clinicians, or psychologically vulnerable users. His work addresses the limitations of benchmark-driven evaluation and the need for clinically meaningful approaches to AI evaluation that incorporate psychiatric expertise, real-world clinical complexity, and post-deployment risk. His broader interests include psychopathology, personality assessment, psychoanalytic and psychodynamic models of mind, and the translation of complex clinical judgment into rigorous evaluation frameworks for emerging technologies.
Dr. Lin completed psychiatry residency at Yale University, where he trained in the Neuroscience Research Training Program, and later completed a medical informatics fellowship through VA Boston, with research at Harvard Medical School/McLean Hospital on computational and digital approaches to psychiatric phenotyping. He is board certified in psychiatry and clinical informatics. His clinical and teaching work in addiction psychiatry grounds his interest in psychiatric complexity, risk assessment, care navigation, and pragmatic implementation of AI tools in health care. He is interested in collaborations across psychiatry, computer science, human-centered AI, health policy, digital mental health, and responsible technology development. -
Xin 'Melody' Liu
YogaX Program Coordinator, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioXin 'Melody' Liu, MBA, RYT200, is a Program Coordinator with YogaX at Stanford Psychiatry. A graduate of the YogaX 200-hour teacher training program and currently enrolled in the yoga therapy training program, she is a therapeutic yoga practitioner with a professional background in psychology research and business consulting.
Her approach is grounded in the understanding that wellbeing begins with turning inward, reconnecting with one's authentic self, and recognizing an inherent wholeness, and that what individuals cultivate internally extends outward to their communities as compassion and connection. Drawing on Integrated Holistic Yoga and mind-body science, she offers an integrative approach that incorporates therapeutic yoga, breath work, contemplative practice, and lifestyle medicine.
At YogaX, she provides student and community support, teaching, and mentorship. -

M Windy McNerney, PhD

Windy McNerney is the Director of Biological Sciences for the MIRECC at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Palo Alto, and a Clinical Associate Professor (Affiliated) at Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford School of Medicine. Dr. McNerney holds a particular passion for not only understanding the neurophysiology and biochemistry of mental health diseases, but also advocating for these invisible diseases. Her research focuses on neurodegeneration, depression, TBI, PTSD, and addiction. She is collaborating with researchers to integrate brain imaging and biochemical markers in hopes to better understand these diseases. She also is taking a lead role at the VA in investigating the biochemistry of magnetic brain stimulation and is the leader of the NeuroNado Laboratory. At Stanford University, she is the professor of two popular courses examining the biological and societal issues surrounding substance use disorder, with a major focus on opioids such as fentanyl. She has individually mentored over 25 students from underrepresented groups in STEM activities and leads monthly seminars aimed at facilitating career development. In her free time, she is a community advocate for the treatment of mental health and educates groups about the dangers of fentanyl.
She earned her BS from UC Davis and her PhD from the University of Notre Dame. While at ND, she interned at NASA Ames on Human Factors Engineering. She then went on to a postdoctoral position at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (DOE), and then completed a fellowship at the WRIISC program at the VA and Stanford University.

Colleen Mills-Finnerty

Staff, Psychiatry and Behavioral SciencesBioDr. Mills-Finnerty received her PhD in Psychology from Rutgers University, with a focus on cognitive neuroscience. She completed a MIRECC Advanced Fellowship at the Palo Alto VA and Stanford Dept. Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, studying mood disorders using neuroimaging and neurostimulation. She was then awarded a VA Career Development Award to study attention and reward function in mood disorders. She joined the Women’s Operational Military Exposures Network as a Research Scientist in 2024. She is interested in health disparities that impact neurological and mental health in women Veterans, and their relationship to Military Environmental Exposures.
She has authored multiple award-winning papers, including “Affective Neuroscience: Applications for Sexual Medicine Research and Clinical Practice,” proposing a novel treatment schema for sexual trauma based on affective neuroscience, which was awarded the Bronze Prize for Best Paper by the International Society for Sexual Medicine. -
Clayton Olash

BioClayton Olash, MD is a psychiatry resident at the Medical University of South Carolina and an affiliate researcher with Stanford University. His work bridges psychiatry, neuroscience, and contemplative traditions, with a focus on how altered states of consciousness can catalyze lasting psychological change.
Clayton's current research spans multiple projects, including studies on ibogaine and its impact on the default mode network, rapid-acting neuromodulation techniques such as SAINT TMS combined with meditation, and a novel high-dose electrotherapy device for home-based treatment of depression.
