I was born and raised in Montréal, playing soccer, biking, and skiing the east coast mountains while completing undergrad at McGill University. The cycling became more serious when a couple friends and I set out across eastern Canada to raise relief funds for a local town that suffered a tragic train derailment. I headed south of the border to study medicine at Stony Brook University and completed Anesthesia residency at Mount Sinai in New York. When the Covid-19 pandemic interrupted elective surgeries and our lives, a few colleagues and I teamed up to convert consumer sleep apnea devices to accessible and scalable mechanical ventilation. After testing at Walter Reed, the blueprints were shared freely and put to use in several developing countries before being presented at the 2021 American Society of Anesthesiology conference. As a keen Stanford fellow, I look forward to the challenges of Pediatric Anesthesia training and west coast cycling.

Becky Wong

BioDr. Becky Wong is an adult and pediatric anesthesiologist at Stanford University Hospitals and Clinics and The Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Stanford, California. She received her medical school degree at The University of California at San Diego and her anesthesia residency and pediatric anesthesia fellowship training at Stanford. She provides anesthesia care for a wide range of ages with a focus on neuroanesthesia. She co-chairs the Neuroanesthesia Special Interest Group in the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia. As an Associate Director for Quality Improvement in the Stanford Anesthesia Department, she has a deep interest in improving patient care.

Feng Xie
Postdoctoral Scholar, Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine
BioFeng Xie is currently a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University School of Medicine, and he recently graduated with a joint Ph.D. degree from Duke University and the National University of Singapore. He previously obtained his bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2017. During his Ph.D. study, he utilized interpretable machine-learning tools in acute and emergency care settings and published eight first-author research papers in high-impact journals with total impact factors of over 60. Specifically, he developed a novel informatics framework called AutoScore, which automatically generates interpretable clinical scores from electronic health records. This open-source software package has been used by local and international researchers, downloaded about 400 times per month from the CRAN platform, and the first paper published in 2020 has garnered around 40 citations. His research interests include machine learning, clinical informatics and decision-making, predictive models, electronic health records, and risk stratification in acute care settings.

James Xie

BioDr. James Xie is a board certified pediatrician and pediatric anesthesiologist at Stanford University School of Medicine. His goal is to improve patient care with health information technologies. Currently he is a clinical informatics medical director (CI-MD) and Epic physician builder at Stanford Children's Health.
Dr. Xie studied computer science and medicine at Stanford University, followed by a combined residency in general pediatrics at Boston Children's Hospital and Boston Medical Center and anesthesiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital. After residency, he completed a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Stanford Children's Health where he subsequently joined the faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor. -

Dokyoung Sophia You, PhD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine
BioI am interested in investigating the role of stress and emotion regulatory system in chronic pain and substance use. I am also interested in identifying EEG markers for critical psychological and neurocognitive factors contributing to worsening or improving pain symptoms and substance use disorder. Ultimately, my research goal is to develop mechanisms-based psychological interventions for patients suffering from chronic pain to optimize pain management strategies with less medications and substances and to help patients live meaningful life.
