BioMia A. Harris is a PhD student in Higher Education at the Stanford Graduate School of Education and is originally from Houston, Texas. She earned her bachelor's degree in English and Africana Studies from Tulane University and a master's degree with distinction in African Studies from the University of Oxford.
Mia is the managing editor of the Journal of Black Language and Culture at Cambridge University Press, and the one of the youngest managing editors in the university's history. She is a Graduate Fellow for Stanford’s Ujamaa House, afro-diasporic theme residential community where she supports teaching of EDUC 150: Ujamaa House Seminar. Mia's research examines inequity in higher education, with a particular focus on how selective and elite universities support, retain, and educate Black students. She’s presented her research across the country at the national conferences like the Linguistic Society of America, National Council for Black Studies, and American Education Research Conference.
