Anna Howley
Ph.D. Student in Immunology, admitted Autumn 2024
BioAnia Howley is an Immunology PhD student in the lab of Dr. Carolyn Bertozzi. She received her BS in Biology from College of the Holy Cross in 2022, where she investigated the function of APOBEC3G variants in the context of HIV infection. She subsequently joined Donald Ingber's lab at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University. Using an organ-on-chip model, she studied the effects of radiation-induced injury on human bone marrow and developed an in-vitro model of Shwachman Diamond Syndrome using shRNA-based knockdown in primary CD34+ progenitor cells.
Ania's broader research interests lie at the intersection of immunotherapy and mass spectrometry-based proteomics and glycoproteomics. -
