Emily Alsentzer

BioDr. Emily Alsentzer is an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Data Science and, by courtesy, Computer Science at Stanford University. Her research leverages machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) to augment clinical decision-making and broaden access to high quality healthcare. She focuses on integrating medical expertise into ML models to ensure responsible deployment in clinical workflows. Dr. Alsentzer completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she worked to deploy ML models within the Mass General Brigham healthcare system. She received her PhD from the Health Sciences and Technology program at MIT and Harvard Medical School and holds degrees in computer science (BS) and biomedical informatics (MS) from Stanford University. She has served as General Chair for the Machine Learning for Health Symposium and founding organizer for SAIL and the Conference on Health, Inference, and Learning (CHIL).

Rabab Alshahrani, MD, FRCSC, FAANS

BioDr. Rabab Alshahrani is a board-certified, fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with Stanford Health Care. She is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Alshahrani offers a broad spectrum of neurosurgical care. She has special expertise in complex spine fusions, brain tumors, and conditions affecting the brain’s blood vessels (cerebrovascular disorders). Dr. Alshahrani is also experienced in both open surgery and minimally invasive techniques. She provides customized care for each patient and enjoys helping them regain function and improve their quality of life.
Dr. Alshahrani’s research focuses on surgical and minimally invasive treatment of cerebrovascular disorders and other complex neurovascular conditions, including aneurysms, strokes, and carotid artery disease. She has contributed to clinical and multicenter studies aimed at improving patient care and outcomes through evidence-based practices.
Dr. Alshahrani has published her work in several peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery, Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, and American Journal of Neuroradiology. She has presented her work to colleagues at events around the world, including the World Congress of the World Federation of Skull Base Societies and the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies.
Dr. Alshahrani is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS). -
Dahham Alsoud, MD, MSc, PhD

Visiting Postdoctoral Scholar, Pediatrics - GastroenterologyBioDr. Alsoud is a physician-scientist conducting postdoctoral research at the Rosen Lab, supported by fellowships from the Belgian American Educational Foundation and the Stanford Medicine Children’s Health Center for IBD and Celiac Disease. His research combines advanced statistical modeling and bioinformatics, leveraging multi-omics and longitudinal clinical data from the CAPTURE IBD cohort to uncover the molecular and clinical determinants of therapeutic outcomes. Through this work, he aims to reduce reliance on trial-and-error treatment strategies, strengthen evidence-based clinical decision-making, and ultimately improve outcomes and quality of life for individuals living with inflammatory bowel disease.
After earning his MD from Damascus University, Dr. Alsoud conducted his PhD research at KU Leuven, where he integrated clinical prediction, serum proteomics, and whole-blood transcriptomics to investigate treatment heterogeneity, therapeutic resistance, and response to advanced therapies in IBD. He also holds a Master of Science in Health Care Management and Policy from KU Leuven, reflecting his broader interest in designing efficient, patient- and provider-centered models of healthcare delivery. Dr. Alsoud serves as an Editorial Fellow for Basic and Translational Science at Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and has contributed to the peer review of more than 150 manuscripts in the field.
