    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsI study how education policies and financial incentives shape educational access, student success, and early-career outcomes. My research uses large-scale administrative data and applied quantitative methods to examine financial aid, teacher labor markets, advanced learning opportunities, and educational policy design. I am broadly interested in how evidence-based policies and reforms can expand educational opportunity and support student success throughout the educational pipeline.

    BioGrzegorz (Greg) Walkiewicz, PhD, is a neuroscientist with a strong background in retinal and neurodegenerative disease research. He completed his PhD at KU Leuven (Belgium), focusing on tau pathology and Alzheimer’s disease. His research explores the connection between brain and eye pathology, with particular interest in pTau, Aβ, and microglial activation. He has worked extensively with transgenic mouse models as well as human brain and retinal tissues. He recently joined Stanford University to investigate INPP5K-related mechanisms in retinal ganglion cell degeneration.

    BioCollin has over 20 years of experience as an engineer, inventor, operator, and investor. Before joining Lobby Capital, he was the Managing Director for Techstars Silicon Valley, where he launched the first two Techstars accelerator programs in the Bay Area in partnership with JP Morgan and eBay.

    He started his career as the founder and CEO of FanGo Software Systems (TS S10), a leading company in restaurant mobile ordering. In 2011, FanGo was acquired by GrubHub, and Collin became the Head of Innovation, responsible for OrderHub, new technologies, and a significant portion of Grubhub’s pre-IPO patent portfolio.

    In 2019, he co-founded ZeroStorefront (YC W19), a data analytics platform for restaurants, which Thanx acquired in 2022. He is an alumnus of both Techstars and YCombinator, an advisor for the Roelof Botha and Huifen Chan Innovation Program, and a faculty member at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he co-teaches the Startup Garage class.

    Collin has run two YCombinator Demo Day Funds, investing primarily in marketplaces, developer tools, productivity, the future of work, sustainability and artificial intelligence. In total, he has invested in over 80 early-stage companies, including Payjoy, Landed, Mosaic Voice, Postscript, and Vellum.

    Outside of work, he enjoys cycling, tinkering, and farming. Collin holds an engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He currently resides in San Mateo, California with his wife Doris, daughter Zoelle, and puppies Aspen & Penny.

    BioDarion A. Wallace, from Inglewood, CA, is a Ph.D. student in the Graduate School of Education in the Race, Inequality, and Language in Education, History of Education, and Sociology of Education programs. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Rhetoric and African American Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s degree in International Education Policy Analysis from Stanford University. As a Black Education Studies scholar, Darion’s research draws upon Black Studies, Sociology, and History, while employing mixed methods, to interrogate the ways K-12 American schools cohere logics of (anti)blackness and structure the life and educational outcomes of Black students across temporal and spatial bounds. Moreover, he is interested in how abolitionist praxes, pedagogies, and epistemologies rooted in the Black radical and intellectual tradition have and continue to serve a liberatory function in the project of Black education. To this aim, Darion is interested in partnering with public schools and libraries to develop secondary students’ historical literacies and archival skills to help them better understand the localized sociopolitical context that undergirds their lived experience. Previously, he has worked with the Learning Policy Institute as a Research and Policy Associate, the Service Employees International Union as an Organizer, and San Francisco State University as an Africana Studies Lecturer on Black Masculinities and Black Social Science.
