Current Research and Scholarly InterestsResearch focuses on developmental, cognitive and psychosocial factors involved in adolescents’ and young adults’ health-related decision-making, perceptions of risk and vulnerability, health communication and risk behavior. My research has focused on understanding and reducing health risk behaviors such as tobacco use, alcohol and marijuana use, risky driving, and risky sexual behavior.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy studies address:
1. Confidentiality and Access to Care studies of confidential time during well-visits and policy analyses addressing quality of care and health systems capacity for adolescents and young adults in the US and globally; and,
2, Tobacco, nicotine, and second-hand smoke studies of primary care counseling to reduce nicotine addiction in adolescents and programs to engage medical specialty groups in secondhand smoke clinical and policy interventions. -

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsResearch focus is on the health problems of adolescent women, with particular emphasis on the interaction of psychosocial phenomena with biologic features of the second decade of life. The effects of eating disorders on reproductive physiology, bone density and growth is one example of this interest. Pregnancy prevention and medication compliance in adolescents are other research interests.
