Xin (Melody) Liu
YogaX Program Coordinator, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioXin 'Melody' Liu, MBA, RYT500, is a Program Coordinator with YogaX at Stanford Psychiatry. A graduate of the YogaX 200-hour and 300-hour teacher training programs and currently enrolled in the yoga therapy training program, she is a therapeutic yoga practitioner with a professional background in psychology research and business consulting.
Her approach is grounded in the understanding that wellbeing begins with turning inward, reconnecting with one's authentic self, and recognizing an inherent wholeness, and that what individuals cultivate internally extends outward to their communities as compassion and connection. Drawing on Integrated Holistic Yoga and mind-body science, she offers an integrative approach that incorporates therapeutic yoga, breath work, contemplative practice, and lifestyle medicine.
At YogaX, she provides student and community support, teaching, and mentorship. -
Yang Merik Liu
Instructor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioDr. Yang Merik Liu is currently an Instructor with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University, and is affiliated with the Center for Machine Vision and Signal Analysis, University of Oulu, Finland. He is a Co-I of the NIH/NIA R33 Grant, and was a PI of the North Ostrobothnia Regional Fund of the Finnish Cultural Foundation and the Instrumentarium Science Foundation, carrying out research on digital measures with affective intelligence. Dr. Liu coordinated and managed "AI Forum" and "ICT 2023 TrustFace" projects during his postdoctoral research in University of Oulu since Jan. 2022, led by Academy Professor Guoying Zhao, member of Academia Europaea, member of the Finnish Academy of Sciences and Letters, IEEE/IAPR/ELLIS Fellow. He was also a former researcher with the Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, in 2023, and was a visiting scholar with Hong Kong Baptist University (Prof. Pong Chi Yuen) and University of Cambridge (Prof. Hatice Gunes), in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Dr. Liu has published more than 40 papers in reputable journals and proceedings. He served as the Session Chair of IEEE FG 2025, the Track Chair of IEEE COINS 2026, the Guest Associate Editor of Frontiers in Psychology and Frontiers in Human Neurosciences, and organized tutorials and workshops in international conferences, i.e., HHAI 2024 and IEEE FG 2025. He mentored junior doctoral researchers and co-supervised post-/undergraduate students. His research interests include neurobehavioral AI, affective computing, and cognitive brain aging.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsJames Lock, MD, Ph.D. is Professor of Child Psychiatry and Pediatrics in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine where he has taught since 1993. He is board certified in adult as well as child and adolescent psychiatry. He directs the eating disorder program in Child Psychiatry and is active in treatment research for children and adolescents with eating disorders.

Anne Juliana Lockman
Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioDr. Lockman is Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Neuropsychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Stanford. She directs the Functional Neurologic Disorder (FND) Track at La Selva in Palo Alto, within their state-of-the-art residential and partial hospitalization programs. She completed residencies in both Neurology at the University of Virginia and Psychiatry at Stanford Hospital & Clinics. Her clinical activities include providing pharmacologic and behavioral care for clients with psychiatric and behavioral conditions in the context of neurological illness, including epilepsy, stroke, movement disorders and others. Professional goals include the advancement of clinical care, research and access for clients suffering from neuropsychiatric conditions, including FND and related disorders.
