BioMelissa Hosek is a PhD candidate in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Stanford University. Her dissertation, Ecological Utopias: The Entanglement of Technology, Nature, and Humanity in Modern China’s Imagined Futures, studies the evolution of environmental themes in Chinese science fiction since the 1970s. Her work explores how rapid technological development shapes the production and maintenance of environmental values in society. Her research interests include aesthetics, nationalism, morality, environmental humanities, and the digital humanities.
